Ramadan is all about showing off how pious one is by appearing to fast in public. The truth is that many Muslims will sleep during the day and gorge themselves right after sunset and right before sunrise. It is gluttony disguised as holiness
Ramadam is a joke. All they do is reverse day for night. Gorge themselves all night long then sleep all day long. Want to buy a car at three AM during Ramadan? No problem. They used to warn us infidels ... don't be seen drinking a Coke or water or having a smoke during daylight hours during this .... fest. Behind the walls of the compound okay but not on the street.
