FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER
JOHN 12:44–50
Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus makes it clear once again that he and the Father are one. God is not a force or an energy or a spiritual presence occupying the deep background of your life; he’s not something that you can tap into when you feel like it. Nor is God a distant supreme being who organized the universe long ago and now leaves it to its own devices.
Rather, God is the Lord. He is the commander, the ruler, the governor, the one who makes a demand and who then involves himself intimately in the affairs of the world.
More to it, this Lord is one. This is, as argued by Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI), a subversive statement, for it undermines anyone or anything else’s claim to be absolute. No country, no president, no prime minister, no culture, no book, no person or political party is absolute—only God. The unity of God, for Jews and Christians, is not simply a theoretical claim; it is an enormously important existential claim. Jesus and the Father are one God, who is the Lord of all creation.

48 He that despiseth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him; the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.",/i>+++

Bobby Barron has been very complimentary of the murderous Muslisms who reject Jesus Christ as God.
The Incredible Shrinking Bishop Barron
Barron began with a self-reverential response that carried a hint of conceit for having been placed among the great and the good. Our new bishop has ascended above even just anger. The massacre aroused no outrage, not even a wince of distaste. Rather, his first words were on fire with . . . nostalgia. He found the atrocity “especially poignant” because he had studied in Paris for three years. And because he remembered some of the locations involved, the attacks were “moving and poignant.”
Not obscene, not demonic, foul or repellant. Poignant. It is a word appropriate for the death of a kitten. Applied to the murder and maiming of innocents, it is worse than unfitting. It is shameful.
..........
By inviting Catholics to adopt “a non-violent stance” against jihad, Barron insinuates assent to inferiority. It is a failure of will dressed in Christian idiom. Call it submission.

Muslims, Christians, and SecularistsBy Bergoliobishop Bobby Barron:
had the privilege just a few nights ago to address the annual Iftar Dinner which was held at the Islamic Cultural Center in Niles. This event—at the heart of which is a festive meal signaling the end of the daily Ramadan fast—brings Christians and Muslims together for fellowship, prayer, and conversation. I had been asked to reflect briefly on the topic of the future of religion in America. Given my religiously mixed audience, I decided to speak on the responsibility that all people of faith have in the presence of the growing threat of ideological secularism in our society. A 2008 Pew Forum study showed that the fastest-growing “religious” denomination in American is the “nones,” those who claim no formal religious affiliation. It furthermore showed that there is no substantial difference in the attitudes of believers and non-believers in regard to a wide range of moral and political issues. What both of these data indicate is that secularism—the conviction that God, even if he exists, doesn’t much matter—is on the rise.
I told my largely Muslim audience that, in the face of this threat, all religious believers must be, first, clear and public witnesses to the existence of God.
Why did Bobby Barron not give witness to his "largely Muslim audience" that Jesus Christ is God, Murph?
Why does he keep his "word on fire" under a bushel basket?

Ebb- Woe to him if he does not Preach the Gospel to everyone..
How does engaging Muslims and Atheists as a Bishop of the Church keep the "Word under a bushel"?? Why put yourself out there? Wouldn't the safe play be to just hide from the big bad world... find a Safe Space as our culture prefers ??
No, no ... that is not what we are supposed to do - we must go out into it - even suffer for it if required....though most of us at our keyboards- we would agree- lack that courage of that embrace.. ...
What did you make of St. Mother Teresa committing her life in bringing the light of Christ to impoverished Hindu's and the disease she was around daily?
What did you think of then Pope JP II going to the prison cell of the Muslim guy that pumped 4 bullets into him - almost killing him - touching him, Forgiving - and praying with him? And asking us to forgive and pray for this would-be Muslim assassin?
These are the exception - I get that - But What are we to make of it as it applies to US?
Help me out here...

Bobby preaches a different gospel to different audiences, just like his mentor, Jorge Bergoglio.
Bobby Barron never preached your “light of Christ” to his “largely Muslim audience”. He accompanied them in their errors, straight towards the Hell he hopes to be empty.
Both Barron and Bergoglio are Peronists; they have different “gospels” for their different audiences.

‘Yes, I do convert. I convert you to be a better Hindu, a better Christian, a better Catholic, a better Sikh, a better Muslim. When you have found God, it’s up to you to do with him what you want.” Mother Teresa.

October 7, 1975 - At left, in Calcutta, Mother Teresa worships Buddha in a ceremony of thanksgiving for the 25th anniversary of the Missionaries of Charity. She is the first on the left, recollected in profound prayer. At right, another close-up from the same ceremony.

Absolutely- and unequivocally - (maybe not as good as you... but hey- she tried...) She spent decades living in one of the worst places on earth for fame and notoriety. Sure Hitchens.
She's famous for saying-
"By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, an Indian. By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the Heart of Jesus.
Pure unadulterated apostasy there..... you purist drive-by's are clueless to Christ's Word.
You epitomize the Pharisee's wrong action... This is what Christ meant when he told them.. "If you lose your life for ME, you shall find it"
I've never held anyone, child or adult, who would have to die in my arms- and to do it week after week because of indifference...Do I think those dying people were comforted by this woman of God in their suffering!? Do you think in their last moments of their earthly life they saw Christ in her face as they died ... I sure as hell do ...
And if you don't understand that essence of Christ's embodiment he requires of us, well then you're just playing with Christianity... That doesn't mean we all have to live in Calcutta working for the poor- but if we can't AT LEAST even recognize what Christ is to mean to us- we are lost. Badly lost. Reread the end of Matt 25 when you get a chance...
So I can assume then from your attitude, John Paul II was a chump for going to the cell of the man who almost killed him to Forgive him and to pray together with him.
Nice. I wanna be there when you're with St. Peter passing out purity tests....
put the stones down....

You assume a lot of falsehoods, Murph. Like Hell could be empty or Catholics
worship the Blessed Virgin Mother.
I feel sorry for you and your false shepherds, e.g. Barron.
A Catholic would know better.

That's, what the killer bees (Bergoglio and Barron) call "accompaniment", straight into the gates of Hell. It's not "ecumenism" in the true sense of the word.

Yes, I do convert. I convert you to be a better Hindu, a better Christian,....
What? You don't get that ??
So you do not feel a Protestant who converts to the Faith of the One True Church... is NOT then, a better Protestant for having done so ?? - even discounting the Catholic roots of their beliefs? Whoa- Man you are missing it...
You ever read any thing of Peter Kreeft's ?
He will absolutely tell you HIS conversion to Catholicism made him a better protestant... THATS WHAT THE CHURCH DOES-- IT MAKES US BETTER... and guess what- your head may explode but these Converts MAKE THE CHURCH BETTER as well... Jeepers man- look around - If you don't understand that process- WHY ARE YOU CATHOLIC IN THE FIRST PLACE??? Its not like slavery-- if your born into the Church you can leave it.... we dont because - WE KNOW IT MAKES US BETTER.
Ergo... If it makes US BETTER... than shirley it will MAKE OTHERS BETTER CREATURES TOO ! Evangelizing must be a dirty word for you...but thats we're called to do - Evangelize !
That is why we must share our faith - our lives- as Christ commands of us... but we will fail, (some of us - not pointing a finger here) but that's just part of the process. Fall down, get up - rinse- repeat...
Just bear in mind - that No one messes with Mr. T..... OR Mother T.
Period.
