I’m glad to hear they can keep their property. Unfortunately there has been years of confiscation. A Methodist pastor in a small town near us broke ties with his church and some urged him to start another one. . . non-Methodist. They started with 14 people and in less than a year have 94.
There is a non-UMC Methodist church in the adjacent county. IThe congregation broke away from the UMC 10 or 15 years ago over doctrine. It’s apparently thriving. If our congregation votes to stay with the liberal wing of the UMC, we will most likely leave and join the church I mentioned above.
