[Jesuit] Head of Elite Catholic School Is Fired Over Sexual Misconduct Charges

Regis High School, one of the most prominent Catholic schools in the country, said it planned to fire the Jesuit priest who serves as its president after an investigation found he had engaged in sexual misconduct involving several adults, including school employees.

The Rev. Daniel Lahart, who has been president of Regis, a prestigious all-boys school in Manhattan, since 2016, has been on administrative leave since late February, the school said in a statement. His firing will be effective April 21, the school said.

“The investigation is now coming to a close, and the board of trustees has determined, based on the findings of the third party investigator, that Fr. Lahart engaged in inappropriate and unwelcome verbal communications and physical conduct, all of a sexual nature, with adult members of the Regis community, including subordinates,” Anthony DiNovi, the chairman of the board of trustees, wrote in an email to the school community on Sunday.

He added: “This conduct was nonconsensual, and moreover, continued notwithstanding express requests from the affected parties for the conduct to cease.”

The removal of Father Lahart comes at a delicate moment for the Roman Catholic Church. All its dioceses in New York State are under investigation by the New York State attorney general, Letitia James, for handling of sexual misconduct.

Last year, Ms. James sued the Diocese of Buffalo and three bishops connected to it over what her office described as a yearslong cover-up of clergy sexual abuse. Investigations into the other seven Catholic dioceses in the state are ongoing, and church officials say they have cooperated with investigators.

Wasn’t the NYT one of the news organizations that said of BJ Clinton’s sexual predations “It’s all about sex” in a dismissive manner?

I guess it is ‘just sex’ when a Democrat President is involved, but it is a crime when a Catholic Priest is involved.

I am definitely not defending a predatory priest.

I am pointing out the hypocrisy of the NYT.

I went to a Jesuit College and I would guess at least 25% were homos. F***ing hypocrites.

My children, raised Catholic because my wife is Catholic, (I am Greek Orthodox) went to Catholic Schools from 1st to 8th grade. They were all accepted to Catholic High Schools.
My youngest went to a Jesuit High School. After his freshman year, he requested to be transferred out. We asked him why? He stated point-blank that the Jesuit School was anything but Catholic. They preached against everything the Holy Bible plainly teaches and he was very disturbed by that teaching.
He said to us if there are no openings in a good Catholic HS he would rather attend a public school. At least he could understand public schools’ anti-Christian positions but, he could not tolerate the same attitudes coming from a school that claims to be Catholic but was anything but Catholic in its teachings.

“Jesuit? At least it wasn’t a Catholic.”
Indeed. The difference between a Jesuit and a Protestant is that the protestant admits that they are not Catholic.

There are nevertheless staunchly conserative and faithful Jesuits. I have known a few, and the late Fr. Malachi Martin is a famous example. He regarded Pope John Paul II as a modernist and wrote a novel with a thinly veiled account of Cardinal Bernardin as a pedophile with Satanic loyalties.

Why are Jesuits teaching at Catholic high schools?

Plus, you know 99% of Jesuits are gay, so hiring this guy is really enabling behavior by the school.

Jesuits stopped being Catholic many years ago.

Well. It was an all-boys school.
