Abbot Tryphon, the head of the All-Merciful Savior Monastery on Vashon Island in Washington and the author of the popular “The Morning Offering” blog and podcast, has been locked out of his Facebook account, where he also posted his daily reflections.
On April 3, the monastery website reported: “Just a short note here – Abbot Tryphon was temporarily locked out of his Facebook account due to security reasons.”
However, yesterday, Fr. Tryphon reported that he was leaving Facebook for alternative social media site MeWe, having been permanently locked out of his Facebook account.
His page remains on Facebook and past posts can be seen, but Abbot Tryphon is now unable to update his page.
According to his post, Fr. Tryphon believes Facebook is using “security reasons” as an excuse to put an end to an account they find objectionable:
As you know my Facebook account was recently closed, allegedly for “possibly being hacked”. We were informed, however, by some people whose acquaintances work within the company, that my “Abbot Tryphon” account was actually flagged for content in violation of Facebook’s terms. While it is true that I would raise issues in my discussions that are very much against the current trends of thought in our country, both I and others were still surprised that it was closed without any possible way to appeal, even with one last post to tell people where else they could go to look at the same content.

People should just stay away from this platform. They have banned women’s Bible studies (a friend experienced this) and now another Christian. Big tech are big(gots).
Tryphon is an odd duck. Not sure I have much empathy for someone who still uses Facebook though.
Once they block orthodox priests, it means they’re desperate and the end is nigh.
They have no discernment.
Never thought I’d see this in America.
We are next.
Enjoy your life while you still can. These are the last few days of “freedom”.
Yes we are.
