But Pastor Clint Schneckloth, a pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has recently posted this: “...I have friends who are in wonderfully healthy poly relationships. Mutuality, consent, health, these are critical. I don’t know what I would do about a throuple seeking a church blessing or marriage. It hasn’t come up. I’d probably start by learning from them.”
So to follow this “Pastor’s” logic: Prostitution; Drug use; Alcohol abuse; and sex children under 15 are all OK if they mutually consent and are careful about their physical health.
Has this guy actually read the Bible?
I don’t even think he’s read a book about the Bible
RE: Has this guy actually read the Bible?
Some questions:
On Judgment Day, will the the Lord be wishy-washy or strict?
I put my money on “strict” but merciful. The Lord is merciful but he is not stupid.
As you read your New Testament, did you catch in Hebrews 10:25ff, the idea that habitually missing worship is a willful sin and that there is no sacrifice to forgive it? Did you catch that sinning willfully is pictured as stomping on the Lord’s body, viewing the Lord’s blood as unholy and despising the Holy Spirit?
In the first parable of Matthew 25, the virgins are Christians awaiting judgment, probably after death, but in two groups: prepared and unprepared. The unprepared lack enough oil; figure out what that oil represents and why they might be unprepared.
In the second parable, the Lord gives 3 Christians an amount of money appropriate for each one’s abilities. Two WORK and double their money; they are rewarded. One, out of fear, does not work but makes sure he doesn’t lose money. Did you catch that he is condemned, called “wicked” and “lazy?” “Outer darkness, weeping, gnashing of teeth...”
In the third parable, two groups do Christian works but one is condemned, the other rewarded. Wonder why?
When I learned that the Lutheran church of my youth differed from scripture with regard to its governance (no hierarchy, elders over each congregation) and baptism (immersion only) it was time to look for the Lord’s church, the one He built on the rock.
At Corinth, there were denominations, (divisions based on names), named after Paul, Apollos, Peter and Christ. Which three did Paul condemn.
As you read, keep your antennas up to catch teaching such as “any other gospel than the one we have preached” those preachers are anathema. Not all who say, “Lord, Lord”...
I wish you happy searching for the Lord’s church — it’s a great trip. Hint: It’s not built on the rock called Peter.
