Moscow, March 15, Interfax - The introduction of so-called Covid passports may restrict people's rights and freedoms, the Russian Orthodox Church said.
"There are currently more questions than answers, and therefore the concerns that are being stated in connection with these proposals are totally founded," Metropolitan Hilarion, the head of the Synodal Department for External Church Relations, said on the program the Church and the World on the Rossiya-24 television channel, commenting on the news about the European Union's plans to consider a bill on Covid passports this month.
The hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church said that such passport would breach the principle of voluntariness of vaccination that is currently declared in most countries, including European countries.
Secondly, the metropolitan said he believes the introduction of such passports may seriously hurt some people, for example, those who cannot be vaccinated for some reasons or who have not had coronavirus yet. "Will such a person have to wait to fall sick and recover to visit this or that European country?" he said.
Thirdly, it has to be understood that different vaccines are being created in different countries, and there will be no single vaccine that will be recognized worldwide. "Accordingly, will these vaccination passports include any vaccines, or will they only include vaccines that are recognized on the territory of the European Union?" Metropolitan Hilarion said.
Where have heard that before?
Metropolitan Hilarion values FREEDOM...unlike Frankie From Argentina.
