I lived not far from Youngstown in western Pa. A friend and I drove there in her daddy’s nice, shiny, new car one evening for a concert. We got lost and ended up in the wrong neighborhood with street after street of boarded up buildings.
Her car ran over a long piece of metal that got twisted up in the axle. We had to stop in an abandoned gas station to try to pull it out. I was never so scared in my life. (This was pre-GPS days.) When I have nightmares it’s about this kind of place.
Bad neighborhoods in Cleveland are the stuff of nightmares, too. That idiot John Kasich never did anything for Ohio while he was governor.
“Bad neighborhoods in Cleveland are the stuff of nightmares, too.”
Yes, but I grew up in one of those.
The thing about Youngstown used to be the Mob. Maybe it’s still there. I don’t know.
