It may be that MHG and met have slipped up in language, which is understandable.
But if someone says “it wasn’t me who did it, it was my body/soul who did it” - that’s passing the buck.
We sin and we get forgiven.
Why won’t any of these people give a straight answer?
Because we are not interested in wasting our time on your hypothetical gothcha questions.
If you were to display any genuine, sincere interest in knowing the truth, there’d be plenty of answers.
What do you think "people" have been doing all this time??? Just because someone doesn't agree with you or say what you want to hear doesn't mean nobody is giving a straight answer.
When Paul so clearly explained the struggle he had with sin and the internal battle between the old and new natures in Romans chapter 7, after he had been a Christian for 25 years, he was NOT excusing sin, passing the buck, rationalizing or ignoring the process of sanctification in a believer's life. But he consistently affirmed that our good works or obedience don't contribute one iota to our salvation. It is wholly and completely by the grace of God, the GIFT of God, which He gives to us through faith ALONE. You don't "do" something to earn God's gift and you can't do anything to keep it since that's the same thing as earning it. It is hardly getting a "free pass". That cheapens Christ's sacrifice and mocks God's grace. God's way means HE gets ALL the glory, we have nothing to boast of - for anything.
