I guess it somehow doesn’t look like what they think it should so they reject it offhand.

Or maybe as boatbums said, it’s pride and the need to feel that you are doing SOMETHING to help God.

Or maybe it’s just plain fear, that people are actually afraid to lean completely on God and trust Him fully.

I cannot quite fathom how people think they can do anything that’s even remotely righteous enough to be accepted by God.

Not only are our motives suspect, we are corrupted by sin and therefore anything we do that we offer to God for atonement is corrupted as well.

There also must be a failure to see how much sin we have in our lives and how incapable we are of making atonement. The wages of sin is death, and good works are not the correct payment for the sin.

I wonder, how many today realize there are significant differences between The Gospel of Grace during the Church Age and the Gospel of the Kingdom to be preached during the Tribulation period?
