Perhaps they don’t understand because it hasn’t happened to them yet. They are striving to be counted worthy, to earn or merit God’s salvation. They really haven’t a clue about what GRACE truly is.
That was my thought, too.
People not only don’t understand grace, they don’t understand forgiveness either.
