Yes. But why can’t we remember him without EATING him.

I'm not Catholic and certainly never would be given some of the doctrines of the Catholic church and the fact the present Pope is communist.

But, no communion service at protestant churches I've engaged in had implied that the congregation is eating Jesus' body. It is simply a way of remembering the suffering Jesus went through on the cross.

I reject your premise. It's either based on lies from non- Christians or some perverted doctrine without the Catholic church.

Taking the words of Jesus in John 6 ("unless you eat my body and drink my blood, you have no life within you") is a "perverted doctrine"? Okay then ... you'll understand if I take Jesus as my authority on such matters over you, right?

Just to head off the usual tired objection, "eat my flesh and drink my blood" is not a metaphor for "believe in me" anywhere else in Scripture. It can be a metaphor for military defeat or for slander, not for faith.

You comment: “But, no communion service at protestant churches I’ve engaged in had implied that the congregation is eating Jesus’ body. It is simply a way of remembering the suffering Jesus went through on the cross.”

This is one of the heresies that protestants believe that rejects some of the teachings of Jesus and instead accepts man made protestant beliefs.
