[Catholic Caucus] Catholic Dissenters and Holy Communion

American prelates on different pages

The archbishop of San Francisco speaks of poor catechesis on the Eucharist, while the archbishop of D.C. and other prelates disagree on admitting Joe Biden to Holy Communion.

San Francisco archbishop Salvatore Cordileone on Thursday discussed worthy reception of Holy Communion.

"We have a bigger problem, too, in that so many Catholics don't even understand the concept of worthiness to receive Communion — be in a state of grace. And before COVID, I often questioned how many people just nonchalantly go up to receive Communion when they're really not supposed to be."

Cordileone is local ordinary to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a self-identifying Catholic who opposes a host of Church teachings, which raises another issue.

"People who are manifestly — and prominent [individuals] — going against Church teaching, going against these basic values, there's a heightened issue in terms of the scandal it causes," he said.

Meanwhile, Cdl. Wilton Gregory of D.C. clarified in November that he will follow his predecessors, disgraced prelates Theodore McCarrick and Donald Wuerl, who administered Holy Communion to Joe Biden.

Gregory touted Pope Francis' Church-in-dialogue mantra, saying he wants a conversational relationship with Biden "where we can discover areas where we can cooperate that reflect the social teachings of the Church, knowing full well that there are some areas where we won't agree."

But Philadelphia's archbishop emeritus, Charles Chaput, blasted this dereliction of duty.

"When bishops publicly announce their willingness to give Communion to Mr. Biden without clearly teaching the gravity of his facilitating the evil of abortion — and his approval of same-sex relationships — they do a serious disservice to their brother bishops and their people," he said.

He emphasized Biden should not be given Holy Communion.

"Mr. Biden has demonstrated that he is not in full communion with the Catholic Church," Chaput said.

Denver archbishop Samuel Aquila agreed wholeheartedly.

"Archbishop Chaput speaks the truth for the salvation of souls. The scandal and confusion are real, and when we don't treat the Eucharist with love and reverence, our faith is weakened in the Real Presence."

Canon 915 of the Catholic Church's Code of Canon Law obliges pastors to deny Holy Communion to those publicly and obstinately persevering in grave sin.

This leaves some wondering: If public dissenters from the Faith like Biden and Pelosi don't fit that bill, who does?

On October 13 of that year (1973), Our Lady of Akita revealed to a pious nun this impending crisis in the Church:

The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals and bishops against other bishops. ... The Church will be full of those who accept compromises, and the devil will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.

The warnings have been given at Fatima, Akita and Garabandal:

Let us pray and sacrifice and change our ways to follow Jesus. We need to honor and worship the Eucharist that Jesus told us was necessary for our salvation. John 6

Our Lady’s Message of June 18, 1965

Since my Message of October 18, 1961 has not been complied with and has not been made much known to the world, I will tell you that this is the last one. Before the chalice was filling now it is overflowing. MANY CARDINALS, MANY BISHOPS, AND MANY PRIESTS ARE ON THE PATH OF PERDITION AND THEY TAKE MANY SOULS WITH THEM. TO THE EUCHARIST, THERE IS GIVEN LESS AND LESS IMPORTANCE. We should avoid the Wrath of God on us by our good efforts. If you ask pardon with your sincere soul God will pardon you. It is I, Your Mother, who through the intercession of St. Michael, wish to say that you amend, that you are already in the last warnings and that I love you much and do not want your condemnation. Ask us sincerely and we will give to you. You should sacrifice more. Think of the Passion of Jesus.

It seems to me that there are many good and faithful priests and laity, that there are too many that do not follow the path of Jesus. While the Catholic Church is open to everyone, the compromises seem to bend the rules and reduces the Good News teachings of our Lord.

Even in the Catholic Church, we see differences in actions and our faith. Do we know who are the pharisees and who are the devout Catholics? Thirty percent attendance at Mass and 30% understanding of the Real Presence in the Eucharist. WE are not doing our jobs in spreading and explaining the Good News.

Some in the Catholic Church seems to rationalize the heresies of the protestant churches. Yes, we want fallen away Catholics and non Catholics to accept the true faith of Christ The Lord knows that there are not 40,000+ versions of God’s Truth.

Reflect on the Passion of Christ and how He suffered for all of us. Joe B and the democrats and many Cardinals, Bishops and Priests may all suffer the pains of Hell.

I've been considering a move to Denver for a job I'm interested in applying for. It appears that the archdiocese has an actual Catholic at the head, unlike my current diocese. That's a point in favor of the move.

In my diocese we have a church proudly displaying rainbow flags at the front, and announcing for everyone to hear about their LGBTQABCXYZ♤●■€¿ outreach program. An open homosexual is the president of their parish council, and is currently smiling on the cover of the diocesan newspaper.

I'm all for the Church reaching out to sinners wherever they are, but these people, as well as Biden, Pelosi, and all the other pro-gay and pro-abortion politicians are obviously obstinate in openly flouting Church teaching. And they seem to be gaining influence.

I've dismissed sedevacantists for years as having a serious lack of faith, but now I'm starting to wonder if they're right.

The majority of Catholics in America have bought into the marxist-materialist tenets of so-called "Catholic Social Justice Theory/Teaching".

There are few Catholics in the U.S. who understand that the only natural socio-economic model is entrepreneurial capitalism. That's the model one finds in Jesus' parables.

The government has never committed a single penny to charity, because charity has to be a voluntary act from the heart. But ALL government monies are collected as taxes and fees, and those are taken at gunpoint.

To paraphrase Archbishop Sheen, There are millions who think they understand Catholic social justice theory, but only a handful actually do.

We have priests who welcome the Joe Biden's of the world with open arms.

And then those same priests will deny good, faithful Catholics the Eucharist because they want it on their tongue.
