A conservative Christian and Joe Biden: Did God elevate Donald Trump or Joe Biden to the presidency intentionally, or permissively?
Christian Post ^ | 01/21/2021 | Wallace B. Henley

The first time I heard the name, “Joe Biden,” I wanted to weep.

On December 18, 1972, struggling through Washington traffic to my office at the White House, my car radio reported the deaths of a newly elected senator’s young wife and baby daughter in Delaware in a horrific collision.

For a moment I forgot that Biden was a political opponent. Instead, as a husband and father myself, I thought of a terribly bereaved human being and choked back tears as I reflected on his grief.

Now, all these years later, the last time I heard the name, “Joe Biden,” I wanted to weep.

This time it was not merely the Senate to which he had ascended, but the White House. I wept not so much for Biden as for the babies who would die because of his expanded abortion policies, for the speed with which America’s long march to socialism would intensify, and for the men and women and children who would sometimes find their government as the major obstacle to building a traditional family.

But eventually — and above all — I must pull back and view Biden from my perspective as a conservative Christian.

Last year I wrote a book about the presidency titled, Two Men From Babylon (published by Thomas Nelson). I looked at parallels between Nebuchadnezzar, king of ancient Babylon in the age of Daniel the prophet, and Donald Trump, from the “Babylon” of New York.

Daniel’s clarity was brightening, while Nebuchadnezzar was sinking into insanity. Finally, the ruler abandons everything, and runs into the wilderness, where he lives for a long stretch like a wild animal.

But there, Nebuchadnezzar encounters the God of Daniel. “At the end of that period,” Nebuchadnezzar reported later, “I ... raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever...” (Daniel 3:34)

May Donald Trump “raise his eyes toward heaven” in his present wilderness, walking daily in the Lord’s peace and joy.

May Joe Biden see who he is, not just as a political leader, but as a man who has been entrusted with great authority for which he must give an account to the transcendent Giver of all authority at the end of his days. (Romans 13)

Daniel 2:21 reveals that it is the Lord “who changes the times and the epochs (seasons); He removes kings and establishes kings...” The intentional will of God is that which God mandates will happen. God’s permissive will He allows to happen (and makes possible our freedom). Was Trump president through God’s intentional or permissive will? And what about Biden? I do not know. I just know that God is in charge of history, and “removes kings and establishes kings” (and presidents).

As I wrote in Two Men From Babylon, the Bible shows that nations play a big role in God’s goal for history, which is the advance and global manifestation of His Kingdom of “righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit “(Romans 14:17) in all the nations.

In line with that plan, God raises up through His permissive or intentional will the leadership of nations. Some of these leaders will be unlikely. We see this in Exodus 9:16, which is repeated in Romans 9:17, when the Apostle Paul reminds his readers of God’s word to Pharaoh through Moses: “For this very purpose I have raised you up, to demonstrate My power in you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the whole earth.”

So, did God elevate Donald Trump or Joe Biden to the presidency intentionally, or permissively? I cannot answer that. However, as a conservative Christian I must acknowledge that each is/was in the Oval Office by the will of God.

That doesn’t mean that to oppose them would be to go against the will of God. The Lord may use that opposition to bring them to His ways, and/or hold them on track. It also means that the people of God have authority to pray for them.

Amos was a mighty intercessor who also was unafraid to speak against King Jeroboam. Finally, Amaziah, the court priest, told Amos,

“Get out of here, you prophet! Go on back to the land of Judah, and earn your living by prophesying there! Don’t bother us with your prophecies here in Bethel. This is the king’s sanctuary and the national place of worship!” (Amos 7 NLT)

Amos refused to stop speaking truth in the King’s palace.

The awesomeness of the presidency and the mystique of the Oval Office cultivates sycophancy. So, I think of Richard Nixon, for whom I worked, and how he might have been saved from disaster had there been an Amos in his life. Donald Trump needed a sharp-tongued prophet, and so does Joe Biden now. But, like Amos, such individuals need to lift up these leaders to God through intercession.

A person who’s “got your back” in prayer has earned the right to also get in your face.

Therefore, as a conservative Christian my first duty toward Joe Biden and Kamala Harris is to pray for them daily. Second, as Daniel resisted Nebuchadnezzar and the Chaldeans, so I must oppose them in a godly, respectful way... third, I must stay in the flow of the big river of God’s will and see the larger perspective... fourth, I must be ready to minister to those who get wounded by a destructive socio-cultural environment, sometimes facilitated by those in leadership.

All this because, before I am an American, before I am a Republican, I am a Christian.

With hesitation I can say there’s nothing Godly about the Beijing Biden freak show.

RE: God allowed Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Mussolini, Saddam Hussein and Biden.

So, God PERMITTED their rise to power.

God didn’t elevate no one. Unless God was manipulating Dominion machines and writing in ballots!

Trump was better, not best.

Biden may not be the worst but he’s pretty darn bad.

Now, without going into exactly why I think this nation faces judgment because of abortion, that people (who have had knowledge of the Lord) have been looking at children as a burden to be cast away rather than a blessing is part of why they can be said to have not retained the knowledge of the Lord.

So now we see folks everywhere who display the sign of those turned over to reprobate minds given in Romans 1. And we also see people who remind me of proverbial clay pots getting into the potter’s face because they think they are a different gender. Crazy is being normalized just as perverted was normalized. And it has been happening very fast.

Where Trump figures into it is that he represented an effort to repent for that sin, if you will. As the most pro-life POTUS in a long time he threatened what is probably the most sacred thing on the cultural Left, baby killing to help there be more sex without consequences.

Biden will try to take back that “repentance”.

Taking back repentance is very dangerous, and can call back armies, previously gone away, if one uses Jeremiah 34:8-21 as a reference point.

If it weren’t for the vote fraud I would say he allowed people to chose for themselves. That seems to be a way of God

Some of us think Donald Trump, despite his brashness and careless tweets, with all of his flaws, was our last chance. On Day 1 of his presidency, Joe Biden made it clear that the Dems are going to double-down on their demonic agenda.

I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven; He cried aloud, and said thus, Hew down the tree, and cut off his branches, shake off his leaves, and scatter his fruit: let the beasts get away from under it, and the fowls from his branches: Nevertheless leave the stump of his roots in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth: Let his heart be changed from man’s, and let a beast’s heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him. This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. (Daniel 4:13-17)

God gave Israel a king that clamored for, and God gave this country what they wanted, or at least many vote-counters did, but which will reveal how evil the Left is, who pervert everything that God ordained. And thus those many can be persuades to see and choose the Truth over deception. Glory to God.

Tell me one thing that a prophet should have said to Donald Trump that would have changed any of his policies. (You can’t.)

The only way Trump could have succeeded is if he had followed the example of Jehu, brought all the contemporary priests of Baal into one place, slaughtered them all, then had the contemporary Jezebel thrown off the roof and left to be eaten by the dogs.

Since that isn’t how we do things around here, his enemies joined forces to rid themselves of him, and when his friends attempted to stand for him, they were suckered into looking like fools rushing the Capitol, or told by judges that they did not have standing. Our Jezebel is still with us, and our priests of Baal now run the Federal government. Let our Amos, whoever s/he may be, prophecy to them.

God is working out His plan for the end times and the Tribulation period and dealing with Israel and her enemies.

It’s kind of irrelevant whether God allowed this or deliberately did it.

We are now a nation under judgment ourselves for the slaughter of millions of babies and the embracing of sexual perversion, and injustice.

It was going to happen some time or other, sooner or later.

I guess it’s on us now and it’s up to us to decide what to do during our remaining time here.

The most important thing in all this is the salvation of souls.

What happens on this earth is of little consequence in light of eternity. What does it matter if a man gains the whole world and yet loses his soul?

I pray for revival, but I fear Biden as President is evidence God has chosen to judge America.

Jesus said, “If the world hates you, you know that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own. But because you do not belong to the world and I have chosen you out of it, the world will hate you. Do you remember what I said to you, ‘The servant is not greater than his master’? If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you as well, but if they have followed my teaching, they will also follow yours. They will do all these things to you as my disciples because they do not know the one who sent me.”

Think we’re about to face government-endorsed and government-rooted hatred for and persecution of Christians.

Isaiah 45:7
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

Love it when God goes on a rant.

Whichever it is, understanding why God does or allows most things is such a mystery it seems rather pointless to ponder.

When Job finally got his chance to confront God over his treatment the only enlightenment Job received was what he already knew: That he didn’t understand.

Sometimes we can suppose a reason in hindsight, but even that is highly suspect.

For years, my heroes have been Christians like Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Corrie Ten Boom.

Both of them could have just “gone along to get along” and not resisted the Nazis.

But both of them did NOT “go along to get along”, and suffered greatly. Both Corrie and Bonhoeffer were imprisoned in Concentration Camps, and Bonhoeffer was hanged by the Gestapo.

Now we are being faced with an evil regime, which could arguably become even more powerful than the Nazis due to advances in surveillance, facial recognition software, social media, GPS, and cyber-propaganda. The enemy is endowed with billions of dollars to enact their schemes due to their alliance with The Media, Academia and Big Tech. What is a Christian supposed to do? Is it proper to just pray for the enemy and do nothing?

History has criticized the Church in Germany for “going along to get along” with Hitler.

Meanwhile, Bonhoeffer, Ten Boom, Schindler, Wallenburg, and other Christian Heroes are forever enshrined in The Avenue of Righteous Gentiles at Yad Va Shem in Jerusalem.

I am an old widow on social security, and yet I am struggling with this. Who will I end up being? A Bonhoeffer? Or a “Rev. Fritz Von Craven” knuckling under to Hitler in order to be a “good Christian”?

Oh but one could say, “It will NEVER happen here!”.

And yet, the land of Beethoven, Bach, Einstein, Goethe, and Mozart succumbed to tyranny in less than 5 years.

I know...I know. Godwin’s law. Sorry.

Actual.y no the people did not bet to choose their leader. Our nation chose Trump. Cheaters ignored that choice and foisted their candidate on us illegally. God allowed this to happen for His purposes whatever they may be. Had God not wanted that outcome to happen, He would have stopped it by enabling enough solid conservatives on the court to immediately hear the cases of fraud, and find that the election was fraud k ent. God allowed the turncoat sc judges to e put in place for His purposes whatever they may be. His ways are higher tha. Ours. He knows the long term. We don’t.

Just as He allowed brutal dictators to rule and steal elections I. Other nations, He also has allowed it hear for whatever purposes He has in mind. Could it be to wake this nation up to our continual sins? Perhaps. Could it be to set up a spectacular dismant.ing of the democratic party for decades s s to come? Perhaps. Could it be to punish a corrupt republican party that has betrayed God and the nation? Very possibly.

Only God knows why He allowed such a horrible person to cheat his way into the Whitehouse after a man who .over this nation dearly, and was doing so much good for this country, but was opposed every inch of the way by the evil on the left.
