Of Capitol Importance

How does one make sense of the elections? Where is our culture going? What will the future hold? A colleague of mine wrote: “What we need to hear is admission of wrong and repentance.” Posting this appeal for repentance and admission of wrong from fellow believers doubtless implies that all those who in any way affirmed the policies of President Trump are specifically guilty both of Trump’s “unworthy” presidency and also the foolish invasion of the Capitol, and that repentance of all things Trump will solve our social problems.

Questioning Recent Events With regard to the event at the Capitol, much has become evident as to what the future will hold. Trump had called for a legal and time-honored (often used by the Left) public protest to an election his supporters saw as compromised. The gathering was to coincide with the debate about that election that was going on in the Congress. Alas, this event got out of hand. In hindsight you could say the whole event was socially unwise, but the illegality began when some in the crowd, provoked by radical Antifa and BLM elements that had slipped in and joined the crowd, began breaking down windows and participating in other violent acts. In hindsight it is easy to say that Trump brought scandal down on his own head by trying to denounce what he saw as a scandalous election. However, “Stop the Steal” was and still is a legitimate concern.

Of this election, Dr. Peter Navarro, Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University and a professor emeritus of economics and public policy at the University of California, Irvine, and author of a three volume careful examination of the recent election, stated: “The failure to aggressively and fully investigate the six dimensions of election irregularities assessed in this report is a signal failure not just of our anti-Trump mainstream media and censoring social media but also of both our legislative and judicial branches.” Election cheating is a serious collapse of the rule of law, which Trump attempted to denounce without success. It was the final victory of those who had opposed the presidency of Trump from the beginning.

Trump’s Achievements To repent of Trump’s presidency is simplistic, for there is much to appreciate in what Trump achieved that we may not want to forget. To be sure, Trump as a businessman had plenty of personality failings, like his rough speech, self-promotion, and dubious past, but there are few, if any, politicians to whom you could add the word “saint.” However, many evangelicals among the 75 million who supported him, did so for the good sense of his policies, which, as opposed to those of the radical Left, fit the free world traditions of historic conservatism.

In 2018, Trump could boast that more Americans were employed than ever recorded in American history. He has been called a racist, but the facts do not support that opinion, since he gave practical attention—not just words—to improve the economic situation of the black community. The lowest-paid 25% of Americans (which included many African Americans) had a 4.5% income boost in November 2019, outpacing the 2.9% gain in earnings for the country’s highest-paid workers. Under Trump, poverty rates for African Americans and Hispanic Americans reached their lowest levels since the U.S. began collecting such data. In 2018, Trump signed the groundbreaking First Step Act, a criminal justice reform bill that enacted reforms that made our justice system fairer and helped former inmates return to society. More than 90% of those benefitting from the retroactive sentencing reductions in the First Step Act were African Americans. He initiated historic tax cut legislation for Opportunity Zones in black communities, encouraging local investment. He signed a bipartisan bill that will permanently provide more than $250 million a year to the nation’s historically black colleges and universities, along with dozens of other institutions that serve large shares of minority students. In signing the bill, Trump said historically black schools have “never had better champions in the White House.”[1] Interestingly the Trump administration has done considerably more for the African American community than several previous Democrat administrations.

The Trump Administration secured $250 billion in new trade and investment deals in China and $12 billion in Vietnam. His work in the Middle East to bring Israel and various Moslem nations into peace negotiations and to move the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem will have long-standing importance. President Trump also fulfilled his campaign promise to improve the Veterans Administration, the material state of the military, and to protect America’s southern border.[2] Trump has also been called the most pro-life president,[3] has vigorously defended religious freedom,[4] and has shown a wise resistance to globalism in this time of the “Great Reset.” Faced with a virus unknown to anyone, Trump worked tirelessly to control the COVID-19 pandemic and coordinated the creation of vaccines in record time.

Trump’s Policies and the Christian Worldview I hope that my writings never gave the impression that I was counting on a well-known sinner to produce a “Christian nation.” In politics, the most important element is policy, not people. There may be little to choose between the personal behavior of Trump and that of Biden, but there is much to choose between their policies, insofar as they did or did not reflect a fundamentally God-honoring worldview. Also, a political structure cannot ultimately save us, but one that holds God as the Creator of all things and as the source of human rights, and treats the human being as a responsible individual, dependent on the rule of Constitutional law, goes a long way in producing a national life blessed by common grace. Acknowledgement of God’s ultimate sovereignty reflects at the political level the deeper spiritual notion of Twoism and thus can make comprehensible the gospel: humans are dependent both on a divine Creator and on a divine Savior. Self-creation and self-salvation are out.

A Hypocritical Use of the Capitol Incident We have learned a lot about the future in the last few days. The storming of the Capitol by a small percentage of the thousands of protestors in Washington that day was illegal and, for congress members, extremely frightening. Several lives were lost due to a variety of incidents, some including direct violence promoted by BLM operatives. I have yet to see a list of the exact vandalism in the Capitol incident, but it does not compare with the looting, arson, brutality and destruction of property at the cost of the hundreds of millions of dollars inflicted over an entire 2020 summer on federal, state, and local government facilities by leftist rioters during the summer of 2020 and the loss of many lives. While progressive politicians met that particular mayhem with silence, excuse, encouragement, or even celebration and romanticized justification, their discourse is now very different. They now call this protest by a relative handful of people knocking down doors and throwing Nancy Pelosi’s desk papers on the floor, as a “Pearl Harbor,” a “day of infamy,”[5] a worse “security failure” than the 9/11 terror attacks,[6] and an act of “sedition” aimed at an “overthrow of the U.S. government.” They claim that this was a rightwing attempt at “social revolution” produced by a “bunch of thugs, and domestic terrorists” (according to Joe Biden). Actually, this limited expression of violence, never seen in all of Trump’s mega rallies, is now a leftist cause of outrage and fear. Progressives forget that the mob that assaulted the Supreme Court was out of control in the Capitol during the Bret Kavanaugh hearings. It forgets the Bill Ayers radicals, old friend of the Obamas and now in favor with the Left, who actually blew up parts of the United States Capitol in 1971, and the Pentagon in 1972.

Future Implications of the Crackdown on Civil Liberty This over-reaction is a blatant expression of hypocrisy and has become the occasion for the Left to show its true worldview colors, even before the Biden presidency takes power, which I attempted to warned about before the elections. The Trump protest at the Capitol is already a pretext for an unprecedented crackdown on civil liberties. Five Leftist Big Tech billionaires (Zuckerberg, Dorsey, Bezos, Cook and Sundar)[7] now control our future. Prior to the Capitol events they were already flexing their social power, but the Capitol invasion gave a pretext to Google, joined by Amazon, FaceBook, Instagram, and Snapchat, to shut down the only conservative site, Parler, which allows free expression.[8] YouTube banned all videos discussing voter fraud. Reddit shut down its Donald Trump subreddit. The esteemed publisher, Simon & Schuster announced that it had cancelled Senator Josh Hawley’s (R-Mo.) new book The Tyranny of Big Tech, allegedly because he supported President Trump and pointed out fraud in the recent election. Twitter has permanently blocked Trump advisor, General Flynn, as well as conservative attorneys Lin Wood and Sidney Powell. People in positions of power and authority are demanding that those who supported Donald Trump should no longer be allowed to publish books or use the Internet or fly on airplanes. A Wall Street Journal article documents the firing of a lawyer for an insurance company who posted on Instagram that he had attended “peacefully” and never went to the Capitol.[9] Former First Lady Michelle Obama called on Big Tech companies to permanently ban President Donald Trump from their social media platforms.[10] The reality of such unchecked human power expressed in the contemporary cancel culture is to be feared because it will probably get worse once the Biden administration is installed and Marxist Critical Race Theory becomes the norm. As journalist Joy Pullmann cogently understands:

…this week’s escalation [by the Left] of totalitarian speech controls and witch hunts — ‘Are you now or have you ever been a supporter of Donald Trump?’ — is terrifying…[11]

Bruce Thornton, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, also understands:

So all the disorder, tweet-storms, fake news, “cancel culture,” riots, vicious attacks, and social ostracizing instigated by the progressives will be loaded onto Trump’s back. He will be driven from the public square into the political wilderness, and we all can return to our cherished “democratic norms” and bipartisan bonhomie…The further assaults on our freedom, our traditions, our history, our faiths have only just begun.[12]

Enter Neo-Marxism This crackdown on civil liberties, so typical of original Marxism, reveals that the real problem, which these recent events announce, is the rising socialistic ideology of Neo-Marxism, that is, a new version of the old Marxism. An editorial on the Communist Party USA’s website acknowledging that the Democrats’ total control may be temporary, so they had better make hay while they can, chillingly stated: “In this context—the ever-present capitalist system and the temporary two years of a Democratic-controlled Congress and White House—what we do in the next two years is crucial,” the editorial says. “After we heave that well-deserved sigh of relief, the class struggle continues.”[13]

I fear that my fellow Christian “Never-Trumpers” (who laid all the blame on Trump) did not seem to see the real social danger now coming our way. Many in our culture now ignorantly espouse Critical Race Theory and the fundamental worldview of Postmodernism to which it is tied, which denies the existence of the Creator and thus the possibility of objective truth. With no real truth or morals available, this worldview nevertheless hypocritically seeks to create a this-worldly “moral,” non-binary, egalitarian Marxist utopia imagined by sinful human beings whose only morality is short-sighted self-satisfaction and the promotion of “White guilt.” Part of this vision will be the immediate passage of the Equality Act, making all sexual activities perfectly legal expressions of the civil rights law of 1964, and normalizing “intersectionality.” This is political Oneism, a world based on the personal power and fallible opinions of a few politicians and billionaires, unconcerned by the protection of the human rights of every individual. Like all Marxist experiments, this latest “workers’ paradise,” based on human ignorance, will eventually give rise to human cruelty and to a society populated with gulags to house the unwilling—a human hell. Before this happens, as a prelude, we seem to be headed towards a Chinese-Communist style “Social Credit System” which in China today economically and socially punishes people for “wrongthink.” With the present events, accusing Trump supporters of “the Big Lie,” as they simply question the legality of the election, it is easy to imagine a situation where our government, via the internet, in collusion with Big Tech and China, controls everything its citizens do, and where it is illegal to question the legality of elections or of anything else Big Brother proposes.

The Ultimate Christian Answer truthXchange will continue to point out what is really happening. Along with other faithful fellow believers, the Biden “new day” may well include persecution, because we will no doubt speak to an increasingly Marxist culture concerning the biblical understanding of life as the gift of common grace from a loving Twoist Creator. Christian schools who seek to maintain biblical principles will see their government funds removed if they do not allow full sexual freedom to be practiced on campus; Christian ministries will see their 501 (c) (3) tax status removed if they publicly defend biblical sexuality and marriage. Without proposing a “Christian nation,” it is surely the role and responsibility of believers, even if this gets us into trouble, as it surely will, to publicly honor God our Maker and his law, which is the way people are brought to Christ. We must express compassion and empathy to all, yet we are also constrained to warn the church and the culture not to look to inaccurate or apostate theories for wisdom. We must hold firm to what God has clearly revealed to us in his Word, and to bless our neighbors with the wisdom of a life based on male/female marriage, loving families, the sanctity of individual liberty and responsibility, the freedom of religion, private property, and limited government. Without being political, it must be said that all these blessings will likely come under attack in the new administration.

Our public witness must, of course, also declare the gift of special grace, the gift that really counts forever, the gift of forgiveness and of eternal life offered to sinners in the death of the Twoist Redeemer, Jesus Christ. His self-sacrifice saves us from sin for a future eternal utopia of total justice God himself will create. Our public witness must also warn our fellow citizens of the eternal implications of separation from God for those who spurn this offer and who choose to make their this-worldly utopias the entire goal of their lives.

For this eternal reality, Trump personally never had anything to offer and neither does Neo-Marxism. For this, we must pray that Trump, Biden, our leaders, and our fellow citizens, will turn from error, and to the Lord for salvation, before it is too late.

How does one make sense of the elections?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That’s easy.
BOTH parties conspired to cheat Trump out of office.
Just like they conspired to put the ineligible Kenyan from Indonesia in office.
