It is more likely al-Sadr is trying to undermine those who threaten his political position.

It’s not up to us to support or oppose foreign leaders.

This foolish practice has cost us 80 000 lives, hundreds of thousands of young lives ruined, trillions of dollars, and yielded no gain.

I’m quite sure al-Sadr has a lot of support in the former vilayets of Basra and Mesopotamia, probably not so much in Mosul, and none of it is any of our business.
