One of the most dramatic buildups and deliverances in the Bible, ending with:
35 That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies! 36 So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.
I always pictured this scene with all of Sennacherib’s servants dead and Sennacherib all by himself.
I particularly like Reuban’s depiction. He’s one of my favorite artists.
To lose a whole army overnight, miraculously! "Devastating" doesn't begin to describe what he must have felt. Pickett felt a slight bit of that after his failed Charge.
We need a deliverance like this in America. We are being overrun by Sennacheribs.
Hebrews 11:6, Thanks for the map! Puts things into perspective.
