More than one hundred faithful assisted at an open air Mass next to Clermont Cathedral, France, on the Place of the Victory.
The Mass was officially declared a "demonstration" by the Catholic French group Civitas and was offered by a Capuchin of Morgon, a community close to the Society of Saint Pius X.
France presently has strict Covid-19-limits for public worship, but not for demonstrations.

Wish I could have been there. Meanwhile, it appears our local Latin Masses have ended permanently ðŸ˜
Where are you at that TLM has been shut down? I won’t say where I am because I don’t want to get anyone in trouble, but I’d hazard to guess that the Latin Mass I attended yesterday was one of the best attended in my entire diocese.
Awesome! Wish I was there.
Maybe this will inspire courage in our local churches.

It was not a matter of bad intent or discrimination against traditionalists; just that the celebrating priests (brothers) are very old — long since “retired” — and I think covid was the straw that broke the camel’s back for them. They were having to drive from out of town and the whole thing was just too much.
That’s a shame, and that how my diocese was a decade ago. Now, there’s a supportive bishop and a growing cohort of young and middle-aged priests who do celebrate it. I do worry though about all our priests. Unless things rapidly turn around, I’m afraid that we’re going to see a lot of priests quitting over the next few years. My gut feeling is that the American branch of the Catholic Church is heading for a sort of near-term wipeout due to a perfect storm of Pope Francis’ idiocy, covid and a general drift into irrelevancy.
New COVID-19 cases have dropped to nothing in France and is falling fast all over Europe.
New cases in the US have been lower for the last 3 days than a week ago. (ignoring Thanksgiving)
