Day 106: A Song Of Encouragement In Dark Days - Devotional
The Return ^ | Nov 3, 2020

“Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down” (Isaiah 24:1, KJV). The prophet Isaiah warns us that in the last days God is going to “turn the world upside down.” According to this prophecy, sudden judgment is coming upon the earth, and it will change everything in a single hour. Within that short span, the whole world will witness fast-falling destruction upon a city and a nation, and the world will never be the same.

“The city of confusion is broken down; every house is shut up, so that none may go in … In the city desolation is left, and the gate is stricken with destruction” (Isaiah 24:10,12). Isaiah prophesies that the city is under judgment and cast into confusion. Every house is shut up, with no one coming or going.

What good can come of prophetic messages? Be reminded that Jesus warned Jerusalem of sudden devastation to come upon that city. It was going to be burned to the ground, with over a million people murdered. Christ explained his warning: “I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe” (John 14:29). He was saying, in essence, “When it happens, you’ll know there is a God who loves you and forewarned you.”

In days of prosperity, nobody wants to hear a message like Isaiah’s. But we cannot ignore it because it is here at our door. In such times, Paul says, when we have knowledge that sudden destruction is coming, we are not to tremble or sorrow as the world does. Instead, we are to comfort one another in faith, knowing that God rules over every aspect of our lives.

“Be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation” (1 Thessalonians 5:8). Paul instructs, “Arm yourself with faith build up your belief now, before the day comes. Learn your song, and you’ll be able to sing it in your fire.”

This is the hope of our most holy faith: our Lord causes a song to come out of the darkest of times. Start now to build up your holy faith in him and learn to praise his majesty quietly in your heart. When you sing your song, it will strengthen and encourage your brothers and sisters. And it will testify to the world: “Our Lord reigns over the flood!”

And none of us needs to underestimate the power of prayer! God has brought Trump through all of the destruction attempts and we must have faith that he’ll do it again.

There is an enormous battle raging right now in the spiritual realm. The darkness is trying to prevent itself from being exposed. We need to call on all Saints, intercessors and prayer warriors to lift up the supernatural wind and help the President who is called for in such a time as this, to cross the finish line.

Yes, the Lord hears the prayers of His people. Pray also for President Donald, who is just a human being and has endured unimaginable pain (with a great attitude) for four unrelenting years. He is possibly the greatest president we have ever had. He doesn’t deserve this. Please remember also to pray for him personally. He’s just a human being.

I haven't noticed you on the forum today. Are you joining us on the prayer threads? I have posted one of MacArthur's comments on prayer several times. Here it is in case you've missed it:

Be watchful!
Be specific!
Be persistent!
from Dr. John MacArthur Col 4:2
Devote yourselves.

Frankly, I am tired from the many prayers posted on FR today. But if the all-seeing eyes of God are to behold, if the all-righteous Almighty be moved, The Greek word for “devote” means “to be courageously persistent” or “to hold fast and not let go” and refers here to persistent prayer.

Being watchful. In its most general sense this means to stay awake while praying. But Paul has in mind the broader implication of staying alert for specific needs about which to pray, rather than being vague and unfocused. met mom -- Christians have got to rally. Scriptures teach us that our prayers are weighty. not "wistful" because of the sanctification we have. Let's persist and post here. Post here so we can add our amens.

Since reading the above comments by John I decided that my prayers were too vague and needed to be more specific. So visiting FR has allowed me to compile items and be specific with regard to them. It's tiring, but then I consider the ?persist" and determine that its my duty to keep slugging it out. On one thread I might pray about the Arizona senate contest, on another I might pray about fraud in Detroit or Philadelphia. FR keeps us alert as to what to pray about.

Was busy earlier then traveling home.

We’re in the middle of moving and trying to get things straightened out.

I have been praying.

I am praying that the evil be exposed and stopped.

That the attempts at fraud would not succeed.

That those who perpetrate the fraud would be brought to justice.

Fraud won’t stop until there’s some teeth to the laws. When the laws are not enforced, then criminals will continue to brazenly ignore them.
