Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Lambs, Sheep, and Shepherds

Exodus 10
The Plague of Locusts

10 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these signs of mine among them 2 that you may tell your children and grandchildren how I dealt harshly with the Egyptians and how I performed my signs among them, and that you may know that I am the Lord.”

3 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the Lord, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me. 4 If you refuse to let them go, I will bring locusts into your country tomorrow. 5 They will cover the face of the ground so that it cannot be seen. They will devour what little you have left after the hail, including every tree that is growing in your fields. 6 They will fill your houses and those of all your officials and all the Egyptians—something neither your parents nor your ancestors have ever seen from the day they settled in this land till now.’” Then Moses turned and left Pharaoh.

7 Pharaoh’s officials said to him, “How long will this man be a snare to us? Let the people go, so that they may worship the Lord their God. Do you not yet realize that Egypt is ruined?”

8 Then Moses and Aaron were brought back to Pharaoh. “Go, worship the Lord your God,” he said. “But tell me who will be going.”

9 Moses answered, “We will go with our young and our old, with our sons and our daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to the Lord.”

10 Pharaoh said, “The Lord be with you—if I let you go, along with your women and children! Clearly you are bent on evil.[a] 11 No! Have only the men go and worship the Lord, since that’s what you have been asking for.” Then Moses and Aaron were driven out of Pharaoh’s presence.

12 And the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over Egypt so that locusts swarm over the land and devour everything growing in the fields, everything left by the hail.”

13 So Moses stretched out his staff over Egypt, and the Lord made an east wind blow across the land all that day and all that night. By morning the wind had brought the locusts; 14 they invaded all Egypt and settled down in every area of the country in great numbers. Never before had there been such a plague of locusts, nor will there ever be again. 15 They covered all the ground until it was black. They devoured all that was left after the hail—everything growing in the fields and the fruit on the trees. Nothing green remained on tree or plant in all the land of Egypt.

16 Pharaoh quickly summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “I have sinned against the Lord your God and against you. 17 Now forgive my sin once more and pray to the Lord your God to take this deadly plague away from me.”

18 Moses then left Pharaoh and prayed to the Lord. 19 And the Lord changed the wind to a very strong west wind, which caught up the locusts and carried them into the Red Sea.[b] Not a locust was left anywhere in Egypt. 20 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go.

After the comes the Locusts, to eat up everything the Hail somehow missed.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The (RINO) Governor of Massachusetts keeps changing the rules. Yes, your restaurants can open, but only outside dining. No, you can't serve adult beverages without ordering food. Yes, you can have indoor dining, but No, you can't have seats at the bar. Yes, you can have music, but No, you are not allowed to SING. Yes, you can celebrate Thanksgiving, but No, you can't gather in large family groups. On and on. Yesterday was the worst. Peoples' smart phones were all beeping at them, telling them to GO HOME AND STAY HOME! I kid you not. Robocalls from the Gub'ner! And on Election Day.

Locusts are Grasshoppers that swarm. They are only called "Locusts" when they are in the swarming stage. Just as a "Mob" can't be just one person, there can't be a single "Locust". Now what turns a harmless grasshopper into a swarm of locusts? When a drought is followed by a burst of vegetation, some grasshoppers are "triggered" by a brain chemical called "serotonin" (We have it too). It seems as if many grasshoppers have to get together before this triggering starts. And then, they are no longer harmless grasshoppers, a a vicious swarm of Biblical proportions that consume everything in sight. Sort of like how a dorky college student who spends all day on Social Media can be transformed into a rock-throwing, slogan-spewing, deranged, rioter. It's that Serotonin, I tell ya!

Once again, Pharaoh's heart is hardened, and he tries to weasel out of his commitment to "Let The People Go". He tries to limit the people, saying that the men can go, but not the women and children, and not their flocks and herds. He reneges and twists words.

What can I say? Let My People Vote!

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Prayer of St. Jude (Jude 1:24-25)

To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

In Jesus Name, we stand against any curses, spells, or other demonic activity aimed at our President. We clothe him in the Breastplate of Righteousness, shoe his feet with the Gospel of Peace, Put the Helmet of Salvation on his head, Gird him with the belt of Truth, and cover him with the shield of Faith. We take up the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and believe in You, Dear Lord, that You will protect and defend this man whom You have chosen to be our Executive, for such a time as this.

In Jesus Name.

Amen. _______________________________________

Psalm 94

1 The Lord is a God who avenges.
O God who avenges, shine forth.

2 Rise up, Judge of the earth;
pay back to the proud what they deserve.

3 How long, Lord, will the wicked,
how long will the wicked be jubilant?

4 They pour out arrogant words;
all the evildoers are full of boasting.

5 They crush your people, Lord;
they oppress your inheritance.

6 They slay the widow and the foreigner;
they murder the fatherless.

7 They say, “The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob takes no notice.”

8 Take notice, you senseless ones among the people;
you fools, when will you become wise?

9 Does he who fashioned the ear not hear?
Does he who formed the eye not see?

10 Does he who disciplines nations not punish?
Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?

11 The Lord knows all human plans;
he knows that they are futile.

12 Blessed is the one you discipline, Lord,
the one you teach from your law;

13 you grant them relief from days of trouble,
till a pit is dug for the wicked.

14 For the Lord will not reject his people;
he will never forsake his inheritance.

15 Judgment will again be founded on righteousness,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?

17 Unless the Lord had given me help,
I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.

18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me.

19 When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought me joy.

20 Can a corrupt throne be allied with you—
a throne that brings on misery by its decrees?

21 The wicked band together against the righteous
and condemn the innocent to death.

22 But the Lord has become my fortress,
and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.

23 He will repay them for their sins
and destroy them for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will destroy them.

Of course. Did you not read the Thread? The whole thing is about The Peace of America.

“Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem” has been the title of this Devotional Thread for ten years. However, Today’s Thread is all about the Election, America, and Freedom.

And, of course, being a Designated Prayer Thread, argumentative postings are against FR Rules, but, seeing as this has been a very stressful week for all of us, I welcome your posts and prayers for our Beloved Nation.

Don Corleone, I am going to paraphrase one of your own speeches:

“This thread has been on FR for many years, but this is the first time you ever posted on it. I can’t remember the last time you ever prayed with us over your morning coffee, even though it has been a feature on the Religion Forum since 2010. But let’s be frank here. You’ve never wanted our friendship, or to be a part of our daily fellowship.”

And yes, we pray daily for the Peace of America. Please pardon my snark, but we are all a bit tightly wound this morning.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR
THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM!
And for the Preservation of the Valiant
Israeli Nation!

"The Eighth Plague Of Egypt"
Illuminated Manuscript
William de Brailes – c. 1230

_ ND the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:

And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son's son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.
And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.

Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:

And they shall cover the face of the earth, that one cannot be able to see the earth: and they shall eat the residue of that which is escaped, which remaineth unto you from the hail, and shall eat every tree which groweth for you out of the field:

And they shall fill thy houses, and the houses of all thy servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians; which neither thy fathers, nor thy fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were upon the earth unto this day. And he turned himself, and went out from Pharaoh.

And Pharaoh's servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?

And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go?

And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.

And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.

Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh's presence.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt, and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left.

And Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and the LORD brought an east wind upon the land all that day, and all that night; and when it was morning, the east wind brought the locusts.

And the locust went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.

For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.

Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.

Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.

And he went out from Pharaoh, and intreated the LORD.

And the LORD turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.

But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go.
