That graphic/map is very misleading. From the top headline and the red coloring on the map, it makes it seem that all that land area is now controlled by ISIS. Instead it just indicates which countries have had at least one ISIS-related attack.

Mostly, we are talking about “affiliates” in Africa, rather than ISIS HQ.
ISIS itself was establishing an alternate base of operations in Libya (where there was oil), but the rest is mostly local warlords who will kiss up and swear allegiance, in return for some funding, weapons or training.

Who cares? Africa needs to take care of it. They have a long history of things like Rwanada, Congo, Uganda, Sudan, etc. We should sent them all the machetes and Remington 870s they want.
