Church Tribunal Condemns Episcopal Bishop for Rejecting Same-Sex ‘Marriage’

The Episcopal Church introduced same-sex ‘marriage’ as ‘trial rites’ in 2015.

ALBANY, New York, October 15, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — After refusing to conduct same-sex “marriages” in his diocese, William Love, the Episcopal bishop of Albany, New York, was found guilty of violating the “Discipline of the Church” and the Canon Law of the church.

At the 2018 General Convention, the Episcopal Church had made changes to the rites for same-sex “marriage” that were approved as a trial at the 2015 convention.

The new resolution, entitled B012, stripped diocesan bishops of their autonomy to prohibit homosexual “marriage”, yet still characterized such ceremonies as “trial rites.” Now, the “trial rites” only have an “opt out clause,” requiring bishops theologically opposed to same-sex “marriage” to find a bishop who would have the ceremony performed in his diocese.

In November of 2018, Love published an eight-page letter to his faithful, in which he explained that the new law would not be implemented in his diocese, since it would force him “to compromise the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.”

He further said that the concept of same-sex “marriage” “is in direct conflict and contradiction to God’s intent for the sacrament of marriage as revealed through Holy Scripture.”

“Sexual relations between two men or two women was never part of God’s plan and is a distortion of His design in creation and as such is to be avoided,” the bishop clearly stated. “To engage in sexual intimacy outside of marriage between a man and women [sic], is against God’s will and therefore sinful and needs to be repented of, NOT encouraged or told it is ok.”

I know nothing of Bishop Love beyond this piece but for him to have stayed in this PECUSA (Protestant Episcopal Church of the USA) for this long strikes me as being very dedicated to his call to his congregations and strength in his faith. He probably will be removed from his position soon and it will break his heart but strengthen his faith!

God Bless!

Let’s do a little scientific experiment, shall we? Take one young married man and women and put them in an enclosed environment for a year or two. Take a homosexual couple (male or female) and put them in the same environment as well. At the end of two years the normal (male+female) couple emerge with a beautiful baby; the result of their God designed intimacy. The only thing the same sex couple can bring out is a bucket of putrefied feces and piss. That’s the Truth. Sex, as designed, is Life creating, and Life affirming. It flourishes at the very core of the cosmic order, and it therefore lives at the seat of all authority and power. The One who occupies that throne has blessed us with sexuality and He has warned us, as a loving Father that you cannot violate the natural order without terrible consequences. God has said, “They who hate me, love Death.”

Same thing as that which is not expressly conservative will become liberal.

The left knows you have to exclude, replace, and toss people in the street.

An Catholic acquaintance’s wife chided me recently for criticizing the current Pope’s accepting same sex marriage with the comment that the Pope is following Jesus in blessing same sex marriage under his command: “thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” I merely sighed and shook my head, because of the situation I didn’t want to get into an argument, but my unsaid reply was “Jesus wanted us to ‘love the sinner but not the sin.’ This pronouncement means that the Pope now wants us to love the sin as well.”

And I could have reminder her that Jesus also told the prostitute he saved from being stoned to “go and sin no more.” He didn’t say “go and I hope you have a lot more customers for you body.”

I could be wrong but I think the term used was adulteress which might be only single instance and not a prostitute. Same sin in a way but different volume level.

Good point. For good or bad, I’ve always though of her as being a prostitute. Time to dig into some research on how the ancient Greek text was translated into English.

All the “liberal” Protestant denominations have evolved into organizations whose primary concern is promoting sodomy. Reform Judaism has gone that route, too.

“Let’s do a little scientific experiment, shall we?”

While your post has a crude element to it, it is still truthful and to the point. Preach on my friend.
