Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Abba, Father, How Wonderful You Are!
And LORD, Our God,
How Excellent is Your Name Over All the Earth!
You Alone Are Worthy To be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One true God of The Universe.
We Thank You, Father, For Your Holy Word,
Which You have allowed to be preserved through Your People,
We Thank You for Revealing Your Secrets Through Your Word,
To those who have will have eyes to see,
and ears to hear.
How Wonderful You Are,
How Holy and Righteous and Just in Your Judgments!
You Alone Are Worthy To Be Praised,
For You Alone Are The One True God!

LORD, We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According To Your Will and Promise.
We Beseech You on Behalf of Our Captive Brethren,
Christians and Jews,
In Bondage in Hostile lands.

We Pray For Our President,
And other Leaders of Our Beloved USA
May They Receive Wisdom from You
To do the Right Thing.
We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Psalm 94

1 O Lord, you God of vengeance,
you God of vengeance, shine forth!
2 Rise up, O judge of the earth;
give to the proud what they deserve!
3 O Lord, how long shall the wicked,
how long shall the wicked exult?

4 They pour out their arrogant words;
all the evildoers boast.
5 They crush your people, O Lord,
and afflict your heritage.
6 They kill the widow and the stranger,
they murder the orphan,
7 and they say, ‘The Lord does not see;
the God of Jacob does not perceive.’

8 Understand, O dullest of the people;
fools, when will you be wise?
9 He who planted the ear, does he not hear?
He who formed the eye, does he not see?
10 He who disciplines the nations,
he who teaches knowledge to humankind,
does he not chastise?
11 The Lord knows our thoughts,*
that they are but an empty breath.

12 Happy are those whom you discipline, O Lord,
and whom you teach out of your law,
13 giving them respite from days of trouble,
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not forsake his people;
he will not abandon his heritage;
15 for justice will return to the righteous,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who rises up for me against the wicked?
Who stands up for me against evildoers?
17 If the Lord had not been my help,
my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence.
18 When I thought, ‘My foot is slipping’,
your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up.
19 When the cares of my heart are many,
your consolations cheer my soul.
20 Can wicked rulers be allied with you,
those who contrive mischief by statute?
21 They band together against the life of the righteous,
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But the Lord has become my stronghold,
and my God the rock of my refuge.
23 He will repay them for their iniquity
and wipe them out for their wickedness;
the Lord our God will wipe them out.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

I have shared this true story before, but it really is relevant to today's reading:

Before the Islamic revolution in the late seventies, Iran was ruled by the Shah. While some considered him to be a cruel autocrat, others found him to be progressive. Unfortunately for Iran, History has been thoroughly distorted by the Ayatollahs, and we will probably never know the whole truth. I only know what I know from my own experience that occurred in the late 60's while I was a young teenager.

At that time, the Shah wanted to upgrade the communications network in Tehran. By some crazy trick of fate, he chose the City of Boston as his ideal. So he sent 9 engineers and their wives to New England Telephone and Telegraph Company to tour the facilities and get ideas for his Capital City.

Dad was in management and wore many hats in his job. He trained new workers, taught CPR, Safety and First Aid, and was also the Liaison when The President came to Boston, as special telephone lines had to be set up. This meant that he had top security clearance and dealt with some very important people.

So HE got the job of squiring the Engineers and their wives around Boston. He announced to Mom that he was bringing them home for dinner.

Well, Mom was a proud graduate of the "Boston-Irish-American-Depression-Era-School-Of-Cuisine", so we had Shake-n-Bake Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and canned peas for dinner. The Iranians were enchanted and enchanting. They oohed and aahed about the dinner and waxed rhapsodic about the desert - homemade Pineapple Upside Down Cake. They were handsome, impeccably dressed and coifed. There was not a hijab among them, and nobody asked if the chicken was "HALAL". (It wasn't). Then we spent the evening hearing how beautiful and CLEAN Boston was compared to Tehran. They loved our city, they loved our cooking, they loved America, and they loved US.

Some time after their visit, there was a huge box delivered to our house. It was filled to the brim with Pistachio Nuts, shipped directly from Iran. For weeks we ate Pistachio Nuts. If a mountain were made of the shells, it probably could have covered our tiny urban back yard.

Anyway, YEARS later, an Iranian coworker told me that Pistachio Nuts are the highest honor a Persian could pay to another. It is a "Royal" gift.

Joseph's Brothers brought back suitable gifts when they returned to Egypt. It seems that the gift of Pistachio Nuts goes back a long way.

I have two prayer requests today. Could you pray for my neighbor Melanie who has survived cancer, but is now showing a spot on her brain that needs investigation. And, Please, Please, remember President Trump and the First lady, who have tested positive for COVID. Thanks.

Come and Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiends in Need, For Persecuted Believers, and For Our Beloved Nation.

"He was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification." (Romans 4:25)

God Bless America!

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.
