7 Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the tent of meeting. Anyone inquiring of the Lord would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp. 8 And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent. 9 As Moses went into the tent, the pillar of cloud would come down and stay at the entrance, while the Lord spoke with Moses. 10 Whenever the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance to the tent, they all stood and worshiped, each at the entrance to their tent. 11 The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.
12 Moses said to the Lord, You have been telling me, Lead these people, but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, I know you by name and you have found favor with me. 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.
14 The Lord replied, My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.
15 Then Moses said to him, If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here. 16 How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us? What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?
17 And the Lord said to Moses, I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.
18 Then Moses said, Now show me your glory.
19 And the Lord said, I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 20 But, he said, you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.
21 Then the Lord said, There is a place near me where you may stand on a rock. 22 When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and cover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove my hand and you will see my back; but my face must not be seen.

SNEAK PEEK: Next time, SOMETHING DIFFERENT . .
The Bible encourages us to meditate on it (Ps. 1:1-3, 119:11-16, etc.); these artists have done so, and their works can assist us and enrich our own thoughts about biblical characters, incidents and concepts, and increase our faith in He who is behind it all. As you encounter and consider these images and the related Scriptures and the Spirit enlightens your understanding, please share it with us!
But it is not only oil-on-canvas that can so help us; I refer to the astonishing video series The Chosen, which strolls through the four Gospels at the most leisurely pace. The eight episodes of Season 1 are finished, and the second of a planned seven seasons is coming soon. I say "leisurely" because after an entire years viewing Jesus still has only seven of the apostles (although He's preparing to call up Thomas from the minor leagues--but Thomas is skeptical, of course). Anticipating a canvas of fifty-plus hours instead of a movie's paltry two hours, The Chosen turns the characters (especially including Jesus!) into three-dimensional humans and brings the Gospels alive--you have never seen anything even remotely like it! Here is the Official Trailer.
Here is a link for free viewing of The Chosen: Works with your phone, tablet, and you can cast to your Roku or Chromecast. Last fall I paid $34.98 for DVDs and ongoing internet accessbest 35 bucks Ive ever spent (I dont recall how much our marriage license cost, but then it was 42 years ago).
Moses only saw the back side of God as God covered his face preventing him from seeing the face of God. For no man can see God and live. Exodus 33:20 “But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”
Yes. Don’t know if you noticed, but that text is included above. It’s rather dramatically illustrated by the final picture with “God’s giant hand.” That artist, Graham Cooper, made the point, I think.
Awesome artworks, and landscapes!
There weren’t very many to include despite an exhaustive search, but the visuals seemed sufficiently interesting to merit posting anyway. I didn’t want to let relative scarcity prevent you all from seeing them. Sometimes we make do with less. So glad you approve!

Even before I saw the image/artist's name, the quote struck me as funny because today I noticed that our resident groundhog was hanging about all day in the grass, in front of a new boulder which has a natural birdbath. It was placed there close to the house, along with a landscaping (terracing) project with big boulders.
We've seen the groundhog around off and on the past couple weeks, but he's usually wandering around, not staying in one spot.
When I refreshed the bath today, I noticed that he had just moved in about 3 feet from that boulder, because a big hole had been newly excavated in the cleft of the rocks, between two of the boulders in the terracing. That would explain why he was hanging around close to all the amenities.
Thus we had just been standing around and above that cleft and checking out his new home. I fill that boulder bath a couple of times a day, so I know his "cave" entry is brand new.
When I first noticed the groundhog a couple weeks back, I named him Phil. I joked today that I'll need to make a sign to put out in front of his burrow, "Welcome to Phil Valley."
I'll see myself out now. :)
I loved how they blended Phil Conners’ character in the ad with Bob Wiley and even Carl Spackler. Obvious in the longer version.
It’s the reverse of Carl (and even Phil Conners) who was on a mission to blow up the groundhog/gopher.
Baby Steps - he’s even got the groundhog in a Snugglie, lol.
That ad truly is a work of art.
As far as our own Phil, he’s out and about, not far from his new “digs”. So far so good, as long as he doesn’t eat the daisies!
I’m betting daisies are his favorite.
Yeah no kidding, arrg.
Repels All to the rescue!
I do love all the critters and their families around here, though. We’ve got a momma raccoon who was gifted with quintuplets this year. Quints! Hilarious goings on — pool parties in the bird baths every night for example.
I mean come on, the poor gal must be exhausted keeping track. That had to have been a blessing from Above for her, just to keep us entertained. She’s rolling with the responsibility and doing a fine job. They are a very well behaved, close-knit family — must be home schoolers! :)
God’s handiwork is everywhere you look. Even had some squirrels running across a paint lid the other day, so there were these little white footprints left on the steps...
This stuff is literal. See, still on topic!
Groundhogs, racoons, squirrels—where is your home?
With the deer, chipmunks and porcupines too!
It’s a wild kingdom around here.
You haven’t kept me updated on Phil’s status. I’ve been wondering....
This thread was from a while back!
Phil refused to positively contribute. The wildlife have their quirks and issues, but it all balances out here in peaceable kingdom, something good in everyone. Bad actors (foxes, bobcats and the like) don’t stick around long enough to be any real trouble.
Phil moved on not long after this thread. Maybe became a bobcat dinner? This year a chipmunk moved in to his old residence. Probably quite a mansion for the new family sure to arrive. Even has a nice front porch stone to sit watch the world go by (I’ve seen this — too cute).
This thread was from a while back!
As I've mentioned, I pay attention to you.
