The Pope Sits Out the Culture War

As Italy debates “homotransphobia” law, Francis falls silent.

Normally voluble on political matters, Pope Francis has fallen silent on Italy’s proposed “homotransphobia” legislation, a bill that threatens to criminalize religious opposition to the LGBTQ lifestyle.

The pope’s silence shouldn’t surprise anyone. The culture war makes him distinctly uncomfortable.

“Pope Francis, who has been known to take liberal views on social issues, has been noticeably silent on the issue,” reports the Financial Times. John L. Allen Jr. of Crux reports that people around Francis have even sent signals of support for elements of the bill:

A man who has the courage of his convictions... and his faith... would have much to offer the conversation in refutation. A man who doesn’t want to be confronted for actively working against the office he holds... holds his tongue and lets things play out.

are you wishing for another... "Who am I too judge" sound bite that can be twisted to cause scandal, controversy in ways to suit those who walk the fine line of calmuny best?

The LESS this Pope says about anything- especially theology applying to culture- the better.... as Pope Francis even knows he is barely visible in the shadow of the two Popes before him-

LESS IS MORE.....in these days...

Stop attacking the messenger. Try going to the root of the problem: Francis.

And since when are popes required to remain silent on moral corruption?

Remember this is the same man who said we talk too much abortion and homosexuals.

"Stop attacking the messenger. Try going to the root of the problem: Francis."

Was not attacking the messenger.... just wondering WHY the messenger wants to hear MORE from this Pope who is clearly focused on external issues that take away from - getting the faithful back in the pews, driving home Eucharistic adoration and strengthening the Catechism of the Church....
Anything other than that just breaks down into outrage squabbles that gain nothing but righteousness- when the "ROOT" of the problem - as you say - is really ALL about the MASS.... One solves the other, and the Mass is the solution for what ails... not social/political distraction.... render, render, render.. but I expect too much...

If you don't want to "hear MORE" from thia pope, stop reading threads like this. It's very easy.

As for me, I feel it's a catholic duty to point out the wolves in the flock whenever I can. I can't help it, if that offends or irritates you.

P.S. Wouldn't you like to hear MORE from this pope if he spoke on faith and morals from an orthodox point of view?

Or are you happy with a silent material heretic who only speaks about global warming, wealth redistribution, and illegals invading sovereign countries?

When you say the "Mass is the solution", I'm hoping you are referring to a return to the Traditional Latin Mass and I'll agree with you.

Fair warning, I'm pinging you to the next thread I post regarding the TLM.

Let me say what we all think.

There’s a good chance the pope might be gay.
