I have not read much of what he has written in the past but he seemed more temperate than this.
Many years ago, while I was in college, my Catholic girl friend took me to the local ‘church’. It shared a building with a ‘Quickie mart’ and on Sundays it was overflowing. There was no place to sitwe stood for the service. This was during the last days of the Latin Mass. The priest was so good, that you could understand what he was sayingthat’s the only I way I can describe it. Communion was received (I didn’t, I wasn’t Catholic) standing up.
I felt like I was taken back to services in Roman times. I was ready to convert, but my girlfriend said not to convert because of the priest, because the next priest might not be so good.
We are obliged to impute the most charitable understanding as plausible in these situations. Accusing someone of being self-righteous simply because he maintains a traditional posture is at best detraction.

I'm confused. If communion kneeling and on the tongue predominates in his parish, why did he make the tweet that he did? Something seems off here. Was there something more to the tweet? Was there another tweet he was responding to?
