The first time I read Genesis all the way through, I was quite scandalized by the behavior of Lot’s daughters. But one of the children born of that situation became the Nation of Moab, from whom came Ruth, King David’s Great-Grandmother.
And thus, by extension, the Messiah, Son of David.
And remember, Lot was willing to sacrifice his daughters to the mob until the angels intervened.
God really DOES use the foolishness of this world to confound the “wise”.
He sees the End from the Beginning and the Beginning from the End.
While I was preparing this post (and forgetting to insert its title), I was meditating on Lot's daughters--which for me is the whole point of this ongoing exercise. And I realized what they did, given the completely abject immorality pervading their environment and the demonstrated profound character deficiencies of their father, were not only unsurprising but also were almost a foregone conclusion. That explains their actions but of course does not excuse them.
