This is the sacred, peaceful place in the United States where the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared. It is a humble, quiet place of refuge, noble in simplicity, located at the core of a tri-county region in the heart of agricultural country in Northeast Wisconsin.
In America, The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help at Champion covers the peace-filled holy ground deemed ‘worthy of belief’ by authority of the Catholic Church, that Mary, the mother of Jesus, appeared. Identifying herself as ‘The Queen of Heaven who prays for the conversion of sinners,’ Mary appeared in October 1859 to a Belgian immigrant woman, Adele Brise, on the grounds of Champion Shrine, when the town was known as Robinsonville.
On August 15, 2016, The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops declared Champion a ‘National Shrine,’ by formal decree, distinguishing ‘The National Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help’ as the first and only Catholic Shrine in America with a Church-approved Marian Apparition Site. This and other international media coverage of events that have occurred continue to draw thousands to Champion Shrine.
On the same day in 1871 as the Chicago fire, the Great Peshtigo Fire in WI and MI destroyed 1.2 million acres and killed 2500 individuals.
The chapel grounds and buildings were left virtually untouched by the merciless fury and devastation of the Gret Peshtigo Fire.

The Shrine has reopened and has daily Mass, Sacrament of Reconciliation, Rosary, and many special events.
The Shrine has a Rosary Walk and life size Stations of the Cross.
The Blessed Mother gave a mission to Adele to teach the Catholic Faith to the children of a people who were losing their faith through neglect.

I have heard much about the Marian apparition and this shrine on Relevant Radio and would like to visit some day. I also have seen a special about the shrine on EWTN. It’s the only approved Marian apparition in America and there were miracles associated with the shrine especially during the tremendous fire; the Peshtigo fire — the worst in USA History, which goes unnoticed in our record books and history. Even in our US Catholic history as I’ve never read about the apparition or fire in any diocesan newspapers, periodicals, etc.
When do the fall colors peak in that area?
I never knew that there were so many American appearances by Mary. Live and learn.
Last Year approx Oct 15. Just be aware that it can snow in WI in October. They clear the roads well.
