excellent article. Alexis DeTouqueville’s Democracy in America is the best thing ever written since the Constitution.

When about to enter the Promised land and be a nation, Joshua said:
Choose ye this day whom ye will serve. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

This set the standard that persists to this day in Judeo-Christian, and many other, societies that first level of government is

ME - Self government, self-discipline, self-control

MY HOUSE / HOUSEHOLD is the next level of government.

In ancient Israel everything after that was voluntary. After a couple hundred years of LIBERTARIANISM, the people of Israel asked Samuel, the Spiritual Leader, not the government, to set up a government with a King.

Someone please quote what Samuel said to the people in response.

Great point! That was a crossroad and a horrific choice in Israel’s exsistance the day they went with a king.

They reject God not Samuel!

Same today, started here after the civil war with the beginnings of BIG Government.
