Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell (Proverbs 30:4).
. . . and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? Well, there you have a problem, but you find out that the Son and the Father are one in the same in Isaiah, where it says that He is the everlasting father. He's the father in the sense of the Godhead, and yet He's the Son also. That's three in one: the one in the middle died for me! That's all you can say. You can't go any further with it. He created all of it and yet he's the Father and yet he is the Son. Why? Because, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and Christ is God.
You say, Well, that confuses me! Dont worry about it. That is what the Bible says, and you just have to take in as a basis of a fact that we dont understand yet. The Jehovahs Witness says, Explain it! There are some things that you simply cant explain. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, so sometimes we just have to acknowledge that many of His ways are higher than our ways, and let it go at that. Id rather please God by taking Him as His Word, than to displease Him by doubting Him.
Jesus said that He is the Son, and that anyone that has seen Him has seen the Father. You say, Well, I dont see how that is? I dont either! But when we get to heaven, well understand it. I dont understand how He could save a wretch like you or me, but He did it. I dont know how He keeps us, and how we can keep going despite ourselves, but we can and do by His grace.
. . . and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell? You couldnt tell, at least not in the Old Testament. Except for Isaiah. Isaiah said that His name should be called Emmanuel, God with us. We never call him that at the first coming. They called him Jesus, and he shall save his people from their sins. They called Him Jesus. But one day they will call him Emmanuel. One day that Jew will recognize that this man, Jesus Christ, is Emmanuel, God with us. They'll make that profession one day and one day his name will be Emanuel.
