[Catholic Caucus] Archbishop Laments About "Annoying Letters"
There is discontent among Catholics because of the coronavirus Mass ban, Salzburg Archbishop Franz Lackner, Austria, admitted in his April 19 homily (video below).
He reported that some become "aggressive," and write "annoying letters." But Lackner generously notified that "I accept this.
According to him, the Mass ban could be seen as an "empty tomb," and as "having fished the whole night without catching anything." This could contribute to "an increased longing for Jesus," he believes.
TOPICS: Catholic; Worship
KEYWORDS: dictators; francisbishops; francischism; franzlackner
According to him, the Mass ban could be seen as ... "having fished the whole night without catching anything."

An Austrian bishop has offered an apology for comparing blessings for same-gender couples to the blessing of a concentration camp, among other troubling comparisons. Bishop Andreas Laun, a retired auxiliary in the Archdiocese of Salzburg, made the offending comparisons in a guest post for a right-wing Catholic website. . .Before the apology, criticism was swift and sharp from not only fellow prelates in Austria, by from other Christian and political groups. Cardinal Christoph Schönborn of Vienna and Archbishop Franz Lackner of Salzburg condemned the remarks. . .Lackner appealed for Laun to apologize for what Lackner called undifferentiated juxtapositions, saying, It is incomprehensible how systematic crimes against humanity can in any way be related to same-sex lifestyles.:

You may have assumed that the Mass-petitioners are asking for congregations packed into the pews. (Presumably kissing and singing like calliopes in each others' faces.) On the contrary, I think most (if not all) of those who are strongly asking for the sacramental and liturgical life of the Church to be restored, are in favor of doing so without epidemiological recklessness.
This is the way it's done in the Diocese of Las Cruces, NM: More Masses scheduled, but each congregation limited in size so that people can keep 2 meters away in all directions. Pews disinfected before and after every Liturgy. Dismissal row by row, maintaining spacing. No congregating in the entry area of the church, or in the parking lot.
How they're handling Communion I do not know: that's something I'll have to look into. However if I, not mistaken, they are not yet receiving from the Chalice.
If supermarkets, pharmacies, doctors' offices, gas stations, convenience stores and (seriously) pet grooming salons can still operate safely as "essentials," surely the most essential thing on all the earth can operate safely as well.
