Christian conservatives say 'yes', secular leftists say 'no'

DETROIT (ChurchMilitant.com) - Half of Americans believe strongly the Bible should be the basis of U.S. law but younger leftists want God out of legislation.

A new poll by Pew Research reveals 49% of Americans say Judeo-Christian morals, as laid out in the Bible, should have "a great deal" of influence or "some" influence in how U.S. laws should be made.

Nearly two out of three U.S. Christians generally believe Sacred Scripture should influence laws. Among white, evangelical Protestants, the number goes up to almost 90%. The numbers among Catholics, however, are lower, hovering at about half.

The poll numbers also reveal that age and political party are also big factors. Republicans favor biblical-oriented laws by 67%, with 60% of Republicans over age 50 saying they feel this way.

On the other side of the issue, however, atheists, agnostics and those who follow no religion in particular — called "nones " — are coming in at higher percentages, with atheists at 96%, agnostics at 90% and "nones" at 70% on the question of whether the Bible should remain out of the equation.

The age demographics show that nearly 70% of people aged 18–29 want the Bible out of lawmaking and 57% from age 30–49 feel similarly.

Other recent polls, like the EWTN/RealClear poll in December, show Catholics are moving away from keeping the faith in politics.

It revealed that only 17% of Catholics accept all the Church's teaching, with 41% accepting "most" teachings and one-quarter admitting they don't accept key teachings.

This is evident in the political views of Catholics, nearly half of whom say they won't vote for President Trump in this year's election. It also noted that in November 2019, when the poll was taken, Catholics would favor radical.......

50/50 . . . .a person better be sure which 50 side they are on. NO fence sitters in heaven. People don’t realize just WHO is in charge of their next breath. God is in control of EVERYTHING. It’s right in the Bible how it all goes down In plain view. The Book of Revelation takes a little over an hour to read or listen to. Plus God promises a blessing to those who listen/read it. https://www.biblegateway.com/audio/dramatized/niv/Rev.1 Get the Word out. Eternal lives are at stake and not from the coronavirus.

Given that Romans 13 is pretty explicit that the purpose of “authorities” is to promote Godly justice, it is not me who says law and faith need to be intertwined, it is Scripture itself.

So true. The caveat is that usually polls driven by agenda are way off by a drastic amount. I know so many liberals who at the very least are not heathen but just vote them in.
