I love his father, Charles Stanley. But his son.
One of the qualifications to be an elder is:
"having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination." Titus 1:6
New in my faith, the Lord sent Charles Stanley to me over the radio. I had never before even heard of him.
My best friend (the brother I never had) was in the hospital dying from cancer. I was making 2 hour trips to go see him. Looking for understanding, I searched the radio dial. I kept coming across this preacher, I was able to recognize his voice, but had no idea who he was or that he was famous.
I continued to find him all across the dial and every portion of sermon I would hear was different from what I had already heard. Believe it or not, but I am sure that God sent Charles Stanley to me, as a new Christian, at the exact moment I needed it most.
The Lord also scheduled my trips so that I would be there with my friend, the moment my friend went to be with Jesus. Although unconscious, I was able to hold his hand and tell him (guys don’t usually do this) for the first time out loud that I loved him, moments before he left this earth. Thank You Lord Jesus.
Agreed. Sadly, many in this “next generation” are showing themselves Biblically illiterate.
Suppose Andy is this way because of the way his father browbeat it into him. It wouldn’t necessarily excuse Andy, but it might take a little of the sparkle off his Dad’s halo.
I got off of Charles Stanley’s bandwagon after his double dealing about his divorce. It showed a certain lack of integrity.
