PROFITING FROM PROVERBS - 4/16/2020

“He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him” (Proverbs 16:26).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him” (Proverbs 16:26).

Men labor for the god which is their belly, that which minds earthly cravings and lusts.

“All the labour of man is for his mouth, and yet the appetite is not filled” (Ecclesiastes 6:7).

One of our prime motives for going to work is to feed our face, to keep the body going. Sure, he may have a family, but the prime motivator is himself. Notice that there is a distinction between the flesh and the man. The man, the flesh, “craveth it of him.” In other words, you have a being on the inside that you motivate to go to work. And it goes to work because you need it to, it has to. The flesh has to be in control, and it will be in control, if you let it.

The word “labor” is found twenty-three times in Ecclesiates. It has a lot to do with labor in general: “Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion” (Ecclesiastes 5:18).

Labor is good, it is sweet, it is healthy for the body, and a good night’s sleep usually follows a good hard day. A lot of Americans have problems sleeping. The reason is we don’t really tire out our bodies. We tire out our mind, but not our body. The mind gets tired out by thinking, studying, and all the things it does throughout the day. We very seldomly tire out our bodies. Most people get up at least one time in the middle of the night. We know when our bodies are worn out because we hit the bed and we are zoned out for the whole night, and we get up feeling more refreshed than usual. Hard labor is good for the body’s health.

People think they need to take all these sleeping pills. You don’t need those things. Go out jogging. Do something physical and tire out the body. The best thing for sleep is just good old ordinary, common labor. People moan about, “Well, I’ve got insomnia.” No you aren’t, you are just lazy, barring any medical issues, of course.

Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let's read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let's keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.

I am self-employed and can honestly say that since I surrendered to God I ask almost daily for the helper (Holy spirit) to consume me in my WORK especially so That hopefully I do a job that not only pleases my customer but more importantly God . As it is he that blesses me with anything and everything . In trying to continually seek Gods grace I find myself more at peace as in seeking one will think more about their words and actions and the ramifications of them . Glory to God and his son Jesus my lord .
