People forget that Jesus' prophecy was For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The clock starts ticking once Jesus is buried - not when He was first crucified. That didn't happen until the evening on Wednesday because Joseph of Arimathia had gone to Pilate to ask for Jesus' body so He could be buried in the tomb (see Matthew 27:57-60). By Sunday (the first day of the week) at dawn, Jesus had already risen because the women went to the tomb (see Matthew 28) and He was NOT there.
I agree your math works perfectly. What I don't see is why some people make such a big deal about insisting Jesus was crucified on "Good Friday" and arose on "Easter Sunday". Perhaps they don't want to disagree with "tradition". The important thing is that we believe He DID rise from the dead just as He said He would and because of that we are redeemed from our sins. As Paul told us:
You nailed its tradition, alot Christianity is tradition. Some to litte is good, most damnable. It’s just a biblical position really but it is a fact. We have so westernized christianity, its heart and birth is all Jewish because the Messiah fulfilled the law (John 1:29, Rom.10:2-4), that is why I like studying God’s word with the Jewish mind.
Thanks for your reply!
