27Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. James 1:27 NASB
With COVID-19 fully engulfing the nation now is a wonderful opportunity for the Church, the body of believers in Christ, to put faith into action.
How?
Who in your church is in need?
Think of the senior citizens, widows, single moms, etc who may be struggling right now....or are about to.
A lot of folks work paycheck to paycheck..
If you have means, you could be their help.
As James wrote:
14What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? 15If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16and one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warmed and be filled, and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. James 2:14-17 NASB
Let's give glory to God by helping our fellow man and woman.
Do it because YOU decide to, not because someone else tells you to do it. Or tries to guilt shame you into doing it.
Just preaching the Word. All I can say is do as God leads you via the Spirit.
Amen!
Agreed. We had this same discussion at our deacons meeting the other night. It was plain to all of us that we had an obligation to our Lord to take care of of those in need.
Yup.
Jesus made it clear that it’s the job of the church, that body of believers, to do that work.
Foisting it off on the government was the WRONG way to go.
Given how many churches are essentially closed and not getting donations, this is a GREAT time to donate online to them.
Amen!
