A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise (Proverbs 15:12).
We have seen the scorner a number of times throughout Proverbs. He is the fellow that looks down his nose at God, the Bible, the truth. He openly expressed his contempt towards things of faith.
This is why people stay out of Bible-preaching churches. They dont like to be told they are sinners. They dont want to be told that their lives are moral wrecks. The neither like being reproved, nor do they love the one that reproves them.
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith (Hebrews 11:7).
There was a man one time that was doing the will of God and was said to be a preacher of righteousness, and because of the way he lived and the things that he said, the people hated him. Notice that the motivation for Noahs preaching was fear. There is nothing wrong with that, and one of the great themes of Proverbs which is often repeated in our studies is that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Noah built the ark, and notice this phrase, by the which, by preparing that ark, by being moved with fear, he condemned the world. He became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
We condemn other people when we live right, and witness to the lost. It condemns them. That is why they dont like to hear the Gospel and they despise the sound of Bible preaching. It condemns their way, their thoughts, their heart, their lives, their motives, and their actions. They dont like that. In fact, they hate that. A wicked doer giveth heed to false lips; and a liar giveth ear to a naughty tongue (Proverbs 17:4).
Where do they go? They go to professors of colleges; they go to listen to men and women that will tell them what they want to hearwho will flatter them and build them upand who will tickle their ears. They will not go to the preacher of righteousness. They will go to the ones that will tell them, Im Ok, Youre Ok. They wont go to church; they wont go to a Bible believer. Well, there is one time when they will go, and that is when they get into desperate trouble. When they find themselves in deep trouble, that is when they will listen to the truth.
Daily Bible study is necessary if we are going to begin our day with the right attitude and the right spiritual diet. Proverbs has 31 chapters, and most months have 31 days, so let’s read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let’s keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread! Ideally, a chapter or two of Proverbs will fit in nicely with a good plan of reading our Bibles through each year.
If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.
We are seeing this today... a running away from Truth. Our pastor preached on this last week from 2Peter 2:1-3 Watching for those who preach " another gospel"
Pastor said that " Growth of a church does NOT translate into truth.." So many mega churches these days are " tickling ears" Preach about sin and repentance and they all run away!
If it doesn't line up with God's Word... GET OUT!!

Amen! And that is the message that people need to hear. They can’t get saved in a bloodless church with a preacher that only has syrup flowing from his lips.
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:17-18).
It’s still the cross . . . and it’s still the blood!
I so remember the gospel song we used to sing in our small church as a child... (I’m 78 now)...
“ When I see the blood, when I see the blood, when I see the blood, I will pass, I will pass over you.”
Yes it is the blood of Jesus who died on that cruel cross that will provide salvation. NO OTHER WAY!....
