IMHO Getting to know the fundamentals of a religion by observing some of the practitioners of a particular religion is not a good idea.

For example
:Some Christians, contantly rape, rob, murder ,steal, lie, abuse children and animals etc.
I would suggest if you want to know about Christianity , you read the New Testament, as it contains the fundamentals of Christianity, and you won't be deceived by sinners.

In the case of Islam, read the Koran, Hadiths and History of Muhammad to find out the fundamentals of Islam, and you won't be deceived by Islam's practitioners of Taqiyya.- -Tom
