If some extreme historical antagonist of the Catholic Church, say Voltaire or Diderot, had suddenly been elected pope, how would his conduct in office be distinguishable from that of Bergoglio?

Voltaire was brilliant. This pope is an idiot. Voltaire would be constitutionally incapable o acting like Bergoglio.

Well, Voltaire's first name was Francois. Other than that I could distinguish them pretty quickly.
