LGBT promoter Father James Martin has questioned whether the biblical condemnation of homosexual behavior may be mistaken, referencing the example of slavery.

Where the Bible mentions [same-sex sexual] behavior at all, it clearly condemns it. I freely grant that. The issue is precisely whether the biblical judgment is correct. The Bible sanctioned slavery as well and nowhere attacked it as unjust.

On the other hand, it seems many homosexuals blame God for "making" them that way and then think that it must mean He couldn't condemn them for acting on their natural tendencies. Wouldn't that rationalization work for pedophiles or serial killers, too?

Fact check: 50% was probably a low estimate even in 2002... at least in some regions. Of the Jesuits I know on the West Coast who entered after circa 1975, I’d put the gay percentage at around 80%. Of the men who entered, say, before 1965, I’d put the number at around 15%. They fell off the cliff pretty badly after Vatican II.
