In Ephesians 2:8-10 Paul wrote:

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;

9 not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

It is by God's grace we are saved by faith.

Paul makes it clear it is not from anything we do as he calls it a gift from God.

It is not from works.

We cannot boast.

If it is a gift, if it is not from works, if we cannot boast....this leaves only faith in Christ.

We are to do good works, but these are not what save us.

It’s amazing how many FRomans will scream bloody murder about ‘faith alone’ even though it’s an accurate translation, but will add ‘works of the ceremonial law’ to Scripture day in and day out.
