Sex and your commanding officer
Cross Examined ^ | September 8, 2019 | Frank Turek

Who is your commanding officer? Is it Jesus or someone else? Is it Jesus or yourself? Is it Jesus or the culture? If you say it’s Jesus, well Jesus said, “If you love me you will keep my commands.” Yet we see people in the church today not only failing to keep his commands but denying they are commands at all, especially when it comes to sexual behavior.

Join Frank for completely politically incorrect, but biblically correct, insights into what’s right and true regarding sexual behavior. The show starts with LT Hiroo Onoda, a member of the Japanese imperial army, who refused to believe WWII was over and the continued to fight on a Philippine Island until relieved of his duty in 1974!

I will bookmark for later but one topic that divides even conservative Christians is the subject of contraception and birth control. For the Catholic Church, it is fundamental.

And for all its enormous institutional faults — I believe the Catholic Church has the upper hand in laying out a truly Gospel-centered, Trinitarian, and holistic understanding of human sexuality and marriage. And that it has been to Christianity’s detriment...a detriment to our witness in the world — that the Anglican Church and Evangelicals et al. have failed to hold the same mantle.

Rome's Natural Family Planning means of birth control would disagree with you.

*****

Natural Family Planning is an umbrella term for certain methods used to achieve and avoid pregnancies. These methods are based on observation of the naturally occurring signs and symptoms of the fertile and infertile phases of a woman's menstrual cycle. Couples using NFP to avoid pregnancy abstain from intercourse and genital contact during the fertile phase of the woman's cycle. No drugs, devices, or surgical procedures are used to avoid pregnancy.

All the while Rome mandates its priest to be celibate in contradiction of what is allowed in the New Testament.

Rome's history of enforcing this to the point of removing families from the dad, denying priests the marriage right of normal relations with a wife, etc are there for all to see.

Further, Rome is seemingly refusing to deal with the rampant homosexual problem within its priesthood and the associated sins that are being swept under the rug. The abuse of young boys, and most likely girls (if the priests are pedophiles, no doubt there are nuns who are as well), is well known to all. Yet, Rome is not acting to fix this.

So no, Rome has no "upper hand" on this issue.

A lot of well respected Reformed/Protestant thinkers are increasingly at odds with you over contraception even if they agree with you on celibacy.
