ON THE PAPAL PLANE A quip by Pope Francis aboard the papal plane this morning raised a few eyebrows of those traveling with him and sent his press handlers scrambling.
After takeoff on his way to the Mozambique capital of Maputo, the Pope customarily greeted journalists on the papal plane. Among those he met was Nicolas Seneze, Rome correspondent for the French Catholic daily newspaper La Croix, which just published Senezes book, How America Wants to Change the Pope.
The book threads together different aspects of this pontificate in particular the McCarrick abuse scandal and the Archbishop Carlo Viganò testimony to conclude that influential figures in the U.S. Church are out to, if not replace Pope Francis, then to actively challenge him.
The book quotes professor Massimo Faggioli of Villanova as saying wealthy conservative Catholics have stepped into the vacuum of authority left by the sex abuse scandal to become the de facto leaders of the Catholic Church in the U.S.

What a conceited A-hole.
Of course he’s proud. Because he will never suffer humiliation by being directly confronted on his idiocy nor will he ever engage in a serious debate because he is half wit
Sorry half wits...
Yeah, when?
They through out the last guy and let him live...
What is your argument?
May we agree on categories of discussion?
1. Illegal immigration
2. Systematic protection of sexual criminals
3. Trying to cajole or compel the US into unfavorable climate agreements
4. Opposition to US interests on the world stage, it every friggin’ category
Would you like to suggest a few?
So what is the position the Pope holds on behalf of Christ and the Catholic church?
Not this catholic. Benedict is my Pope.
Your argument is with one man, Jorge Bergoglio.
The Catholic Church is not the enemy. It never has been.
Its not just Americans, Francis. Were use to your ignorant insults which are unbecoming of a pastor! Youve also sold the Chinese underground Church out to the Communists and ignore their egregious persecution. You have the Italians with Deputy Prime Minister Salvini, a devout Catholic, in an uproar as they to try to preserve their sovereignty and beat back the Muslim invaders who are raping and pillaging Europe and you slap them in the face. The faithful throughout the world are scandalized by your not only ignoring but supporting the hebephilia/homosexual problem within the Church. And what is your emphasis in all these crisis? The environment? What a failure as a leader and shepherd.
The pope isn't Catholic. I refuse to capitalize pope, he doesn't have that rank. Didn't' the children at Fatima say, essentially, that Rome would fall? Well, it fell.
Same here, Benedict. The true Pope.
The Roman Catholic Church, as with any human run institution is imperfect, and will continue to be so until the Lord Himself returns.
“Your argument is with one man, Jorge Bergoglio.”
The Catholic Church elected him.
Still, the ACTIONS of the Church, both domestically and internationally, are contrary to US interests. And those actions are carried out by thousands of their clergy.
It’s a veritable international criminal conspiracy. Led by this Pope and supported by the VAST majority of his paid employees.
It’s endemic. And inarguable by any thinking man IMHO.
That said, I do understand your affinity for what used to be the Catholic Church. I was an alter boy and went to a Catholic elementary school. I revere the culture and the spectacle of High Mass.
I miss it dearly.
But this Church has morphed into a monster. And it’s been going on for at least 50 years. In the past good men rose up and cleansed her and set the right path.
It’s apparent to me that this time, they’ve killed her.
Was this THE guy who was prophesied by Father Malachi and others who was to be THE pope who was to be in “cahoots” with THE antichrist?
I’ve heard scholars say pope Benedict was “forced” out and is in a type of house arrest.
Sounds just like a lot of Protestant denominations.
The United States elected Barack Obama. What's your point?
I wonder how he’d feel if his “Church” was taxed by Americans.
He appears to have no problem with Germany’s church tax.
“The United States elected Barack Obama. What’s your point? “
My point is that the Catholic Church acts and propagandizes against US interests. Very nearly universally. And very nearly every day.
And, your statement makes no point at all. Unless your contention is that the United States is just as bad as the Catholic Church. Which it likely is.
And my point is that our interests are highly divergent and incompatible.
Your opinion only, just like Bergoglio's opinions. I value neither.
Yep, that’s as good a way as any to end an argument you have lost.
I’ve seen far worse.
It is an honor to be hated by this Dope.
