DETROIT (ChurchMilitant.com) - Homosexualist Cdl. Joseph Tobin will be the main speaker at the archdiocese of Detroit's priestly convocation in October.
A notice going out to all priests of the archdiocese of Detroit was made available to Church Militant announcing the theme of this year's convocation, "Unleash the Gospel: Sent on Mission," being held Oct. 1317 at the Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne, Michigan.
Cardinal Tobin, the archbishop of Newark, New Jersey, is scheduled to deliver three presentations over the course of the event.
A Detroit native, Tobin was consecrated bishop in 2010 and made a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2016. In November 2016, he was made archbishop of Newark, which had been previously occupied by serial homosexual predator Theodore McCarrick from 19862000.
Tobin was mentioned in Abp. Carlo Maria Viganò's testimony last year, when Viganò revealed Tobin's appointment as archbishop of Newark was "orchestrated by McCarrick, [Cdl. Óscar] Maradiaga and [Cdl. Donald] Wuerl," and noted his name "[was] not among those presented by the Nunciature for Chicago and Newark."
Tobin said in a September 2018 interview that he didn't investigate allegations against McCarrick despite hearing "rumors" about McCarrick's beach house, saying "he thought the story was too 'incredulous' to believe."
Tobin responded to Viganò's testimony, saying he expressed "shock, sadness and consternation at the wide-ranging array of allegations," saying it was filled with "factual errors, innuendo and fearful ideology." He did not, however, disprove any of Viganò's points.
Detroit Abp. Allen Vigneron commented that he supported an investigation into Viganò's allegations: "We have nothing to fear in facing squarely the allegations made by Archbishop Viganò."
He added, "Whether the Archbishop's claims are confirmed or proved to be unfounded, the truth which comes to light will show us the sure path to the purification and reform of the Church."
Despite the fact that a year later none of Viganò's allegations have been disproven by anybody, Vigneron is allowing Tobin, specifically named as being part of a conspiracy, to speak to his priests.
Viganò also noted that Tobin is an open supporter of Fr. James Martin, the pro-homosexual Jesuit figurehead for the LGBT push in the Church in the United States.
In his endorsement of Martin's 2017 book Building a Bridge, Tobin said, "Fr. Martin's brave, prophetic and inspiring new book marks an essential step in inviting church leaders to minister with more compassion and in reminding LGBT Catholics that they are as much a part of our Church as any other Catholic."
One of his first acts as cardinal in Newark was to personally welcome an openly pro-homosexual group to conduct a pilgrimage and Mass at his Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart, greeting them and telling them, "I am Joseph, your brother."

He spoke out in an April 2018 speech at Villanova University, claiming, "The Church is moving on the question of same-sex couples," and allowed a so-called Pride Mass to occur at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Hoboken in June 2019.
The pastor, Fr. Alexander Santora, praised Tobin in his homily for granting permission for the pro-LGBT pilgrimage and Mass that took place at Newark's Cathedral in 2017, adding, "These are important historic moments for us" and calling Church teaching on homosexual relations as "antiquated."
In February 2018 Tobin tweeted: "Supposed to be airborne in 10 minutes. Nighty-night, baby. I love you."
He left the tweet up for two hours during his return flight to Newark airport, and during that time it went viral.
He later claimed, to heavy criticism, "I mistakenly tweeted a message meant as a private communication with one of my sisters," adding, "When I arrived in Newark two hours later, friends informed me of the error and I immediately removed it."
Parishioners are footing the $825 per-person bill for the three-night stay including breakfast, lunch, a wine and cheese tasting and an evening banquet preceded by cocktail hour.
Add-on events include ziplining, Segway tours and chair lift rides up Boyne Mountain.
One excursion will take priests and their guests on a chartered bus excursion to Castle Farms Winery in Charlevoix, Michigan, for a wine tasting and dinner.
The notice reminds priests, "This is an authorized, parish paid, clergy expense."
