At the 137th Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus, which concluded August 8 in Minneapolis, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson announced new initiatives and gave updates on the hundreds of projects the Knights are involved in, both nationally and internationally. One initiative he announced is the Knights’ plan to support refugees at the US-Mexico border.
“As Catholic men and family men, we are all deeply concerned for the plight of the refugees who have fled their homelands into ours. Their need is great — but the compassion of our Brother Knights is greater still,” Anderson said.
While recognizing that individual councils close to the border have already responded with food, water, clothing and other needs, Anderson said that the organization as a whole will begin supporting these efforts.
“We are prepared to commit at least $250,000 immediately in humanitarian aid for refugees to the Southern Border,” he said. “We are prepared to expand it, with additional resources, to help those in refugee camps in every border state — including Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California.”
Anderson added:
Let me be clear: This is not a political statement. This is a statement of principle. This is about helping people who need our help right now. It is a natural and necessary extension of our support for refugees across the world. It shows our nation and the world that where there is a need, there is a Knight to answer it. And on our Southern Border, the Knights of Columbus will be there.

It will be a cold day in hell before this 4th Degree KoC gives one cent to help illegals break into this country. Carl Anderson lied like hell three years ago when he told the Knights out of the blue that the Color Corp regalia known the world over was being replaced by a military-looking uniform with a beret to boot. No councils were consulted before Mr. Important made the decision, although he said we were. Anderson lied through his teeth. Now this latest Bergoglio liberal hogwash. This takes the cake and I know of no KoC that will donate a cent for illegals.

The only good news here is that the KoC is giving a pittance of cash for an obvious P.R. move. $250k is pennies to an organization that manages $21 billion in assets and has a staggering $100 billion of life insurance in force. Let’s hope after a big backlash, they stay out of such leftist nonsense in the future.

Knights are sworn to Patriotism. It seems to me that a policy which supports lawbreaking is hardly patriotic.

As a Catholic you should be tithing/giving to local groups not even aligned with the Catholic Church.
There is not one single, no not one, Catholic Church that one way or another is not giving part/partial funds to a perverted group within their formal structure and/or informal connection.
Sad. True.
Want to do the Catholic walk? Go down to your local hospital and ask what they need for folks that are lacking funds.
FIND SOMEONE in your church who could use financial assistance with something and give to them via a gift card.
Don’t trust the Catholic Church.
By the way, I feel the same way with the larger churches of other faiths. It’s as if a poison gets into their blood once they figure out they LIKE having money to waste.
Sigh.
For years I assisted with a family whose mother took any job she could take to raise her family after the father decided he didn’t like being married because he was upset she had a disable child. The disability was genetic, he had been warned prior to the marriage the odds were great the male child could have difficulties and he rolled the dice and then blamed his wife and God.
I don’t consider tithing funds for tax purposes as it’s not for Tax benefits that monies should be given, so it wasn’t difficult to assist her.
