“Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled” (Proverbs 9:4-5 KJV).

TOPICS: Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS:
“Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him, Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled” (Proverbs 9:4-5 KJV).

“. . . she saith to him, Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled,” of course, bread and wine is a picture of the body and blood of Christ. It is a picture of salvation, really. The invitation is there, “Come, eat of my bread and wine.” There is your salvation. A person is never going to get saved until they realize what they are. When they begin to realize just how bad they are, and how wicked they are, and how dumb they are—then God sends an invitation.

All through the Bible there are invitations.

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool” (Isaiah 1:18 KJV).

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30 KJV).

“All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37 KJV).

“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely” (Revelation 22:17 KJV).

“Come, eat of my bread,” but folks don’t get an invitation until there is a realization. He has to realize that he needs Christ, that he needs God, he needs wisdom that he doesn’t have. Then come and eat my bread. Christ is the bread of life (John 6:35, 48, 51). The Word of God is bread (Matthew 4:4). “. . . drink of the wine which I have mingled.”

There is a war for your soul. Folly, your choice by nature, wants to destroy you – a woman lying about bread and water, which is the most adultery and fornication can offer. Death and hell are the actual results. Wisdom, which God offers by His word, will prosper your life. Nothing can be compared to it. She is like a queen offering perpetual peace and pleasure in her house. Accept her offer today!

Let’s read a chapter of Proverbs a day and see what God might have for us. As the Lord leads, share with us what God has shown you in a special way and by His grace let us build up a devotional repository. Let’s keep our knives and forks handy for some daily bread!

If anyone would like to be added to the ping list, please let me know either by post or by p.m.

Glory to God!I find it amazing and such a huge relief to have come to the realization of just how stupid I have and at times can be . The only benefit is that it allows me to seek Gods continuing grace like a child , that I am . Thanks again for posting Gods word Pilgrim as I seek it out every time I come onto Free Republic (which is daily.) May God bless you and those that you love .

Often it is only after we confront what wrong in our lives that God can start fashioning the good for our lives. Folks say, “I don’t need all that negativity!” Well, yes they do. Let the Holy Spirit make us mad, and then watch as He makes us glad. For years we have had a “garbage in, garbage out” mentality. As we are daily washed by the water of the Word of God, the dross and rubbish is removed and replaced with the mind of Christ.
