“They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them. Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things” (Proverbs 28:4-5).
“They that forsake the law praise the wicked,” this stuff is so deep. “They that forsake the law,” sinners, rebels, “praise the wicked.” They do that to justify themselves and praise the wicked; that way they don't look so bad.
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” (Isaiah 5:20-21).
“Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them” (Romans 1:32).
That's the end of a society when a society begins to praise the wicked. That’s the thing with these rock and roll stars. Instead of praising our president for the good things that he's done, all you are seeing in the news is everything he does wrong, and I realize he is not a perfect man, but he is the only man with any degree of character for years. We haven't had any real men that stand up for what is right. Society would prefer to praise the wicked
“. . . but such as keep the law contend with them,” they contend with the wicked. There is so much in that. Jude tells us that we to “contend for the faith” (vs. 3).
So, we are to contend with the wicked, and those that forsake the Law and praise the wicked, and verse 5 goes with it.
“Evil men understand not judgment,” now you get these people that say, “Well, God wouldn't send anybody hell.” You’re talking about an evil person. That’s an evil person. “Evil men understand not judgment.” It's only good man that understands this truth, and he understands that he deserved it, but that he was pardoned from it, and that he deserved it and other folks deserve it.
They say, you know, “We don't have to kill the killers, capital punishment is wrong.” They are evil, evil. “Evil men understand not judgment.” This is the background behind the “God is love” folks who don't believe that God will damn sinners. They are evil. This is a good passage here; it is a great revelation.
The next time you get one of these “God loves everybody” nuts, give them verse 5.
