Jesus told His disciples in John 14 to
1. Love and keep His commandments
2. That the Holy Spirit will abide wiht them forever
3. 29 And now I have told you before it comes to pass: that when it shall come to pass, you may believe.
He says that it will come to pass for these men - that is in that generation when the destruction of the Temple happened. in John 14
2 In my Father's house there are many mansions. If not, I would have told you: because I go to prepare a place for you.-- it mentions that rooms in the Father's house not about those NOT taken to the Father's house -- you're making that up
3 And if I shall go, and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will take you to myself; that where I am, you also may be.
It kinda does.
Scripture is God's word to mankind. It is His story of our history--from creation to our Fall to reunification with Him. You cannot isolate passages and expect to understand them without knowing the rest of His story.
He wrote it plainly so that we can understand it. What's the point of writing so no one can understand it?
I just re-read your post, and this jumped out at me.
Are you saying that you don't believe those "other scriptures?"
and "one fourth" -- seriously? you really need to read the book of the Apocalypse better - it talks of one-third - and note the "a third" as in "to kill a third of mankind" = the "third" indicates a partial number, just as 6 indicates incompleteness and 7 indicates completeness and 1000 indicates long period
This death of many occured - yes, past tense - during the seige of Jerusalem when many many died and the city was destroyed along with the temple
Give up this left-behind rapture nonsense - it is the mark of the beast
when Jesus comes to gather His own and return to the Father's House, what would even you call those not taken to The Father's House?
You have inverted the passage in John 14 to make it appear to delve into your point of view rather than take the sequence of teaching as Jesus gave it. Typical.
The deceiver is quite active this morning at FR, twisting scripture to contradict the context of God's Word. Did you think no one would notice?
A fourth dies in the catastrophe following the removal of Believers, then a third are killed. Take your fingers and hold up four fingers. Pull down one finger leaving three fingers. Take one more finger down. Is that a third of the fingers remaining after you took the fourth one down? LOL
Verses from the book of Revelations for your assertion that “a fourth die in the catastrophe...”
I should have said one other scripture and that is right I
do not take it serious.
Then we have nothing further to discuss.
Rev 9:18By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
Revelations 9:18 “by these three plagues a third of mankind was killed” follows on from the rest of revelations 8 to 9, where ‘a third’ as in the other trumpet judgements which indicates a partial number. These are the descriptions of the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70, the end of the tmeple was the literal “end of the Jewish world”
and you said “a fourth” - now you change to a third
The madness of the seditious did also increase together with their famine, and both those miseries were every day inflamed more and more; for there was no corn which anywhere appeared publicly, but the robbers came running into, and searched men's private houses; and then, if they found any, they tormented them, because they had denied they had any; and if they found none, they tormented them worse, because they supposed they had more carefully concealed it.... a table was nowhere laid for a distinct meal, but they snatched the bread out of the fire, half-baked, and ate it very hastily.Violence and famine affected Jerusalem, just as John saw
Josephus The Wars of the Jews book 5, chapter 10
Wow!
Your puny effort to contradict JESUS is duly noted. I have no further use for you and have lost any respect I might have had for your spittleworks. By now, don't accept the mark of the beast when commanded of you, and try to remain un-duped by the lying signs and wonders coming to a planet near you.
Now go and try to harass someone else. You have failed here by virtue of your deep ignorance and dead soul which cannot hear spiritual truths.
No, I don't accept them as Divinely-inspired Scripture and neither do you. Whether or not Ethiopian "Christians" have extra writings in their recognized canon is of no concern to me. If they assert they are in the SAME category of Divine authority as the Apostolic writings, then they are clearly wrong - though you didn't indicate that this is their view. Other churches have writings that they may consider as edifying to believers or have some historical value but that doesn't make them Holy Spirit inspired. Holy men of God spoke as they were moved/carried along by the Holy Spirit - those are the ones that we accept as from God and they have intrinsic authority and power whether or not anyone accepts them or not. The New Testament books were written, copied and dispersed by the end of the first century. Christians have received the 27 books and agree that they are from God. I accept the universally recognized canon of the 27 New Testament books. There are no more prophets or Apostles hence there are no more new or "lost" Scriptures. The canon is closed and has been for 1930 years.
I disagree. If you want to include the Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books in your Bible and assert they are "inspired Holy Spirit Scripture" then you have the burden of explaining how God could contradict Himself and get so very many things wrong in His revelation to man. You also - while you're at it - need to explain why the Jewish people would have rejected those extra 7 books as Scripture when even Paul taught that they "were entrusted with the oracles of God." (Romans 3:2). Also, neither Jesus nor any other Scripture writer ever quoted from them.
I guess I and many other believers have a higher standard for what we receive as the word of God seeing as we are ALL supposed to be in submission to it. I highly doubt He wants us to drive out demons by burning fish guts!
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
This applies to “all.”
i apologize. I did not intend for my remarks to be seen as personal
