Your denomination is falling apart.
And this is where the RCC doctrine falls apart once again. They have replaced the Bible with doctrines of men in order to sustain their beliefs. God does not have the final say in the RCC, doctrine and traditions of men take the place of His FINAL WORD. It’s no surprise that each and every false belief they put their trust into comes straight from man and is diametrically opposed to God’s Word.
Nope.
Do you consider sacramental marriage till death do us part to be traditional?
If not why do all you protestants condone divorce and remarrying like rabbits? That’s neither traditional nor scriptural.
Isnt tradition short hand for
because well always done it?
Aaargh. Damn Satan. S/B...
Isnt tradition short hand for
because that’s how we’ve always done it?
That is right!
show me in scripture where you find support for unmarried priests. or most other catholic doctrine e for that matter. i used scripture to refute your point so as usual im not sure where you are going with your sola scripture comment. In Timothy it clearly states married clergy are the norm.
And the Eastern Rites have married priests still today.
The Council of Trent considered the matter and at its twenty-fourth session decreed that marriage after ordination was invalid: "If any one saith, that clerics constituted in sacred orders, or Regulars, who have solemnly professed chastity, are able to contract marriage, and that being contracted it is valid, notwithstanding the ecclesiastical law, or vow; and that the contrary is no thing else than to condemn marriage; and, that all who do not feel that they have the gift of chastity, even though they have made a vow thereof, may contract marriage; let him be anathema: seeing that God refuses not that gift to those who ask for it rightly, neither does He suffer us to be tempted above that which we are able" (canon 9).
It also decreed, concerning the relative dignity of marriage and celibacy: "If any one saith, that the marriage state is to be placed above the state of virginity, or of celibacy, and that it is not better and more blessed to remain in virginity, or in celibacy, than to be united in matrimony; let him be anathema."[73

IF Rome wants to decree its priests have to be celibate they can do so. But Rome cannot appeal to "tradition" and claim this was always the way.
there are a few narrow biblical grounds for divorce. But as the catholics on this site keep telling us divorce isnt the problem remarriage is
Tradition definition: The handing down of statements, beliefs, legends, customs, information, etc., from generation to generation, especially by word of mouth or by practice.
IOW, rooted in nothing more than custom. So, slavery should have been left alone? Astrology and alchemy should still be ‘science’?
Never ceases to amaze me how little regard some RCs have for the very book they claim to have given everyone.
More posters, Catholic ones, who apparently didn’t even read the article; very disappointing.
Stupid question.
Got something else?
And the Eastern Rites have married priests still today.
And the Eastern Rites have married priests still today.
Run on back to your daily pope bashing caucus threads. You will be safe there.
And a Catholic poster who is complaining for nothing.
Acts 17:10,11 tells us all we need to know here.
“And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas, by night unto Berea; who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.”
“THESE were more noble than those at Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and SEARCHED the SCRIPTURES daily, whether THOSE THINGS WERE SO.”
If the RCC had been the “noble” ones like Paul pointed out, doctrines and traditions of men would have NEVER been accepted. Because they are DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED TO SCRIPTURE.
Denial is not just a river in Egypt. It's also not a rebuttal.
