ROME - The Vatican has responded to a formal protest by the Spanish government over a controversy regarding the remains of Gen. Francisco Franco, saying it never intended to meddle with Spains domestic affairs.
In early July, Spain sent a formal protest to the Vatican after the papal nuncio in Madrid rebuked the Socialist government for resuscitating Franco through its efforts to move the former dictators remains. It’s as if the 70s will never end.
Hand.
:)
This is the equivalent of Spain trying to erase its past (as is taking place in another country...)
Today the Russians honored the last Tsar:
Thank you all, because reconciliation beings when we all understand that it mustnt be repeated, it is unacceptable, said Volodin following the minute of silence. I think the fact that today all the political factions of the State Duma honored the memory is a good basis to talk about the future, he concluded, with the chamber reacting with applause.”
That’s what the US used to have when the victors allowed the defeated side in the civil war to put up their own monuments. Those were monuments to reconciliation (and, in effect, reunion).
Today, of course, only one side of any view can be permitted.
Wait. Franco is dead?
Meanwhile, Muslims are gradually reoccupying Spain like they promised in 1492.
“Wherever a Muslim plants his foot, that is sacred Muslim territory forever.” Starting with the Cordoba cathedral.
The Spaniards don’t want another civil war like 1936-39. They will be absorbed into the greater Maghreb, proving the old saying, “Europe ends at the Pyrenees”.
Will it make any difference where Franco is buried as within a decade there will be few if any left who remember Franco?
